If you could play like Efren...

My last post on a previous thread made me think of this goodie!

If for some magical, strange reason..the pool-gods(and i do believe in them:D ) touched you one morning..and granted you with Efren-like pool prowess..what would you do ..?:D

Would you carry on life as usual..and continue with your day to day routine ? would you proceed to bust everyone in your home-town ..?
Would you go on the road and try your luck as a road-warrior ..? would you turn pro..?

Or would you never tell a soul and be under-cover...?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Turn pro! I would grab sponsors like batteries off the shelf before a hurricane :D

Then I'd go practice my 8 rail banks because they've been lacking lately.

Man, fun.

My name would be changed weekly, and I'd have a beard, and then not, hair and then bald. Different cars and cues monthly. You could have a ball before you got known. Eventually you'd have to play tournaments, after you got pegged. But... I bet you could put back quite a nestegg before that time came. "Just call me Harry. Harry Sachs."

somehow I missed that thread, VIProfessor. It was quite nice. That is what is interesting about this all of us on AZ. While we may not agree on everything, the enormous similarities that we share bind us together as brothers.

If I played at Efren's speed, I would go around the world trying to put a smile on everyone's face while at the same time, helping them to lose some wallet weight. I would love to travel and be able to compete well in the big tournaments all over the world. Hard core hustling just isn't my thing. Once in a blue moon, I get a game that is out of line and I win easily. Those days seldom pass but even if I win some good cash; if I stole it, I just don't appreciate it that much and hardly ever feel good about it. At the same time, I don't mind winning some green. :D

Losing..... I hate that worse than stealing. :D

I wouldnt be greedy, I'd do what ever I could to promote pool and not be self serving. Sure I would have to make a living but I wouldnt be an action whore looking to rob everyone. I'd set a good example for pool.

If I could play like Efren...

...I would buy you a green dress.

(But not a real green dress, that's cruel.)

Everybody now. :D

Funnier than _ _ _ _

i'd go bust jamie mcworter and cory out of 20 large by god.
Now that cracked me up. I'm sure that game would never get played either.

Seein' how I'm already clocked, I'd matchup with 'tooth, cornfed and fatboy first...then take two weeks off before retiring :D

Cheers,
RC

Yeah, well I'd buy you John Merrick's remains (ooh, all those crazy elephant-bones).

But also, I'd play Cory until his backers pulled up, I'd play Shane van Boening until his backers pulled up (you know the world is his backer right now), I'd play Russ Chewning until his Iraq savings were gone, I'd play whoever else I could find who bet high, and I'd keep looking for action until the pool community in general knows that I'm the best or second-best (after the original Efren) pool player in the world. Then I'd probably quit looking for action because everyone would be asking for ridiculous spots that I wouldn't have the energy to negotiate or outrun, I'd keep my job, invest my winnings, play for fun and in the occasional tournament when I have enough vacation time saved up, and attempt to retire early some day.

  • Life as usual would cease to exist if you were that good.
  • Not much benefit of busting everyone in the home town..you want them on your side.
  • No reson to go on the road...They will line up to play you just like they do Efren.
  • Nope....There isn't a Pro Tour in my opinion...Just a lot of Open Events.
  • How do you know I am not under cover right now? Looking bad at pool is an art form.
;)

I too love the crazy yet soothing sounds of jazz that Coltrane gave to the world.
