Wrong on both counts, but I'll throw Smorg some rep today anyway!!! I really miss him and his posts. I wish someone on this site with as much wit as he had would "pick up the ball and run with it" or "take the bull by the horns" so to speak and take over as the website funnyman/funnywoman. Probably not going to be another like him. Luv ya Smorg!!! Hope all is well with you in the "real" Big Easy!!!

Maniac

I'm too new to this site to know of Smorg's wit, but I think you (Maniac) could be the website funnyman, whether intentional or not, you always tend make people laugh  (just think about the nail store ). I did rep Smorg for his b'day.

both right and wrong

Neil,

Much of what you say is true, rep points have little to do with real reputation. If they did there would be considerable shift of most of the people on the first page. It is also true that Smorg garnered much of his rep from his funny posts. That doesn't change the fact that he was also one of the most intelligent posters on the forum. His insightful and inciteful posts were epic.

Rep points are just a bit of silliness now but that is all the more reason to push Smorg to the top if we can. Just a little remembrance of a friend and someone that really did bring something special to the forum mix.

Out of the thousands of people on the forum the vast majority could disappear without more than a ripple left behind. The amount of sorrow people like Smorg, Rude Dog, Old Has been, Break Up, and a few more left behind when they passed is plenty of reason to honor them.

I have never stopped repping Smorg's account and have no intention of stopping as long as I can do it. It is a way of remembering a very special person.

I know I'm going to get flamed, but I really don't care. The statement above is probably the most ironic statement I have heard. Rep stands for reputation. This is a pool forum. While I liked Smorgs post, and him, as much as anyone on here, his contribution was mainly as the 'class clown'. He added brevity to the forums. He was one of the first to turn reputation points into a game. Not something to be earned, as it used to be, but something traded for. And, so many have bought into it, that now they actually think they have a good reputation by how many points they have! Even to the extent of saying that Smorg deserves to be at the top of the reputation list when he is one of the main culprits that destroyed the reputation list!

I guess this is just typical of todays society. It's not what's actually done that counts, just how it's packaged and delivered. This forum should have guys like Blackjack, Jude Rosenstock, SJM, Steve Lipsky, Bob Jewett, and a number of others at the top of the list, as they are the ones that make this forum great. As it is, the rep list is nothing more than the rep game list.

on his Birthday, you will never, ever make another ball in your life nor will you ever get laid again!

If everyone reps him today, then maybe he can go to #1 (and knock that current #1 obnoxious SOB off the perch!)

Happy Birthday to ole Smorgie!! May Barb be meeting with many smiles.

I send him REP any time i am able to do .... does this also count ? :grin-square:

I think the quickest way to move Smorg up the list would be for all you page 1
guys to start red repping each other. I'm talking a scorched Earth policy.

A real blood bath.

In fact, I think Smorg would get a real kick out of that.

Justin (but dont be sendin me no roses) Nuder
