I really don't mind people using their jump cues and I thought about getting one for fun. For the most part every time I play someone that uses a jump cue then I'm chalking and standing because I am ready to shoot. I'm planning my pattern while chalking. If I'm not preparing for my turn then I'm playing 2nd base as I prepare to field a ball coming off the table.

There are a few great jumpers at my pool room but for the most part my mentality is "ball in hand" whenever someone decides to jump. LOL

Only jump a ball off a table if a player brings his own set of balls. They get real mad.

That's what happens when you play low skill opponents and not when you play someones who can actually play.

Its not exclusive to good players or bad players because jumping doesn't dictate how good you are.

One thing for sure, 90% rate, you will get a ball in hand.

Most <550 Fargo players are going to be better off trying for a kick shot. There are exceptions though.

90%?! You lambkiller. Not in the places I play(ed).

Not that there was a win in the same inning as the jump, but a good hit into a moderate or better safe is what is actually most likely to be the result.

The success percentage depends on how good your safety was. The real question is how often you’d get ball in hand if that particular opponent didn’t have a jump cue. If that’s our cap number is 92% they made the right play. If you have a difficult or impossible kick and hit the object ball on a jump the jump cue improved your chances.

Most of the time when I see people use the jump cue, they do not give up ball in hand. A lot of times the jumping player leaves an open shot if the jump isn't a hanger, but I rarely see ball in hand from a jump that didn't work.

I make the OB in pocket 50% of the time jumping.
I make legal contact with OB 85%+ of the time.
I use the jump stick sparingly.

A jump shot is something that needs to be practised to master. Even top pros miss or foul on jump shots, so of course amateurs will do so as well and more often.
I jump when:
1. The pot with a jump has a high success rate.
2. It's easier than a kick.

It's also worth noting that a modestly skilled player can often follow, draw, or apply throw to the OB with a jump shot in cases where it would be difficult or even impossible to do so with a kick...
