If you worshipped one pool god, which one?

Tim Tebow

I would worship the pool god of perfect position play.

I'd pray to the god that answered Tim Tebow's prayers for a pro football career...oh wait!

A little more seriously, if I prayed it would be to the god of sportsmanship and NOT the gods of ego and greed...

Isaiah 45;5 "I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me."

:thumbup2::thumbup2::thumbup2:

I have at times asked God to have some fun & play the game through me.

When He has, I/WE can't miss. The thing is...

HE doesn't stay with me as long as he use to do.

I've always wondered who the "God" is that people think really cares about the outcomes of their pool games, or sporting events, in general. You'd think a cosmic creator wouldn't choose the Lions over the Packers....but what do I know...?
I'm sure God isn't really concerned about my high run at 14.1 this year :)

I think you missed the point of my post.

I've never asked Anyone to make an opponent miss or play bad so that I might 'win'.

I think you are 100% correct in Who may or may not care about the outcomes of such unimportant competitions.

There is more involved when one competes & there may be something about that that Cosmic Creator may actually care about.

Relationships can be strange 'animals'.

Best Wishes to You & ALL.

Oh, I totally got your post :)
Most of the times I'm responding, it's tongue in cheek. Like the guy who posted the Biblical passage. I'm sure we can all agree that we aren't taking anything away from whomever you choose to believe as your personal "Saviour". I was just having some fun with the notion that a divine force could have any interest in round balls on a table ;)

The last thing I intended, as the OP, was to turn this into a spiritual discussion. As pool players, we all know about the pool gods. Just like watching Clash of the Titans doesn't mean we truly believe in Zeus.
I simply thought it would be fun to anthropomorphize the pool gods and pick one. Like picking your favorite Avenger.

Got Ya.

Yeah, it's not the inanimate objects that anyone should care about, nor the outcome of the game.

Now, the individuals playing the game & how they 'play' it may be another matter.

No matter how good 'I' am playing...

I will always gratefully take a bit of Luck to go along with it.

So, I'd pay a small tribute to the One & Only God of Luck, what ever 'Luck' actually is.

Best 2 You & ALL.

Presently, I am host to a pool demon that causes both cue ball and object ball to go in any direction other than the one I thought that they would go.

A. This is not a very serious thread. I doubt that anyone in here truly believes in pool "gods", although I wouldn't put it past the few that might...

B. Here's a fun thought: if you only believe in one God that denies all others, you are by definition "atheistic" towards all other gods. Cool, huh?

My point, I suppose, is that this is not the place to be preachy about religion. It's a fun thread that is silly and arbitrary. The NPR is wide open for religious discussion if that's your cup of tea.

Hallelujah! Preach on! Heh heh.

Thanks for understanding the point of my thread.

Nooo, not the Pool Demon... the one that sits on your shoulder, whispers in your ear as you're down..."You don't really think you can make that cross bank, do you?"
