If your cues have EVER been damaged because of the case you use, post your story here

All this talk and testing by John Barton got me thinking, I have never heard a story of a case being the reason a cue was damaged.

I have heard and it has happened to me, damage done to a cue by leaning up against a wall or table and having it fall over. Plenty of people now sell cue holders for such protection.

I have heard of damage being done by banging it on the edge of a pool table. Maybe I should come up with some rubber guards that can go around the edge of your pool table. Consider this a patent, trademark - I am sure that they have cheap rubber in China and John Barton will try to steal my idea.

So, if your cue has been damaged because you were storing it in your case - please post your story here. I want to hear all about it. Did you drop your case? Did you run over your case? Did your girlfriend throw it out the window? Did your dog piss on it? And most importantly - What kind of case was it?

Nice idea watchez
If i forget to close my case, take it and the cues came out should that be my fault or the cases one
After seeing the interior of JB, i realy thing it´s the cases fault :grin::grin:

yes I did. I had a 3x6 pro lite. I put the case on the back seat of my truck when I left Magoos in Tulsa, when I got to All American Billiards in Muskogee 45min later there was achip in my clearcoat. Im not rough with my stuff and take care of my cues..So I know I didnt bump my cue on anything before it was put in my case.. When I first got the case I woudl always hear the the rattling inside the case and it always made me cringe...I guess I shoulda just not used it when I first heard that sound

I will have to find my original post on what happened and post it on here simply because I dont have the time to put it all down here right now since I have like 14 Vets waiting to see me and I am typing this in between seeing them.

Take care of the Vets and take care of your cues.

Who makes the pro lite? Do you still have the case? John Barton could have gone CSI on the case and torn up the inside to find proof that the clear coat was now found on the inside dividers of your case, thus proving that the inferior case did in fact cause the damage.

I find using the full capacity of a 2x4 It's George to be a very, very tight squeeze. If you're not super careful about putting cues in and taking them out, you can easily end up with a scratch. It's happened to me.

Once

I purchase a cue at VF one year that came in a inexpensive imported case. When I got home and removed the cue there was a scratch about 1 inch on the butt cap. Apparently one of the nails missed the intended target. The cue maker refinished the cue for me, signed to to my wife and put a leather wrap on it for me.

How about that. You can say what you want without slamming a country or cuemaker. Not a bad way to go, aye!

I take very good care of my Vets, and take great care of my cues. Jack Justice is the one that makes the Pro Lite. I do not have the case I sold it, and honestly I shoudl have kept it cause it was so nice :(

I was considering calling CSI to do a thourough inspection and Molecular matching of the clear coat and the clear coat chip, but I had an upcoming prostate inspection that I as so giddy over I forgot about it:grin:

Nah, I think it was due to the bumpy roads, sudden stop from a woman about running me over from her talking on her cell and just the movement inside the case from all that, I am guessing thats what caused it...but I have no idea honestly.

I was showing cues to a friend. After a couple of cases, I was on my Mezz NPC-35 hard exterior and soft partition case. When I pulled a cue out, I forgot to clip the case in between my legs... bang it goes into the carpet... Cues and shafts all over the floor... &^#$%^%$@#@... Fortunately, what was inside this case where Production cues.

On another day, another friend was in town. I was holding a JB case and showing cues. Took my other hand that supported the case off and bang it goes on the carpet. Cues and shafts are still inside the case... What a sign of relief... Check the cues and shafts inside one at a time... No nicks, dings, etc... Now I own 3 JFlowers JB cases. I had JB custom made 2 x (4x8s) no frills case. Had a custom canvas case to put them in for traveling. All with that Memory Foam interior that JB uses. I'm sold.

I had a Barton and a Justis and my cues all broke in half in both of them...

j/k now can we dead this stupid argument? really, who cares? both guys make fine cases.

the end

I agree...its getting old...and yes, they both make nice cases

One time a few years ago my girlfriend and I were at a beach cottage over the summer and as we were leaving I handed her my cue case to take down the steps so I could grab the heavier stuff... about her second step down her foot slips, she drops the case, the lid unsnaps and all of my cues and shafts roll down the steps (in slow motion) till they hit the bottom of the cement. We stand there watching, frozen in horror, and then she looks up at me, sees my face and immediately grabs her ankle and goes "owww". Naturally I can't be mad at her now because she (allegedly) hurt her ankle but if the case had had a better latch and/or had a more snug interior the cues would have never met those steps and the cement... Thank God my Ginacue was not in that case.

I won't comment on what brand of case it was...

You cannot fault the case maker here. I am going to throw your argument out of my court.

If you have your girlfriend at a beach cottage then why would you need your pool cues??? Pool should be the last thing on your mind. She should be mad at you for bringing your pool cues in the first place.

I wonder if JB would give a discount if you bought a case from him without a lid. If the memory foam holds the cues in place so well - who needs the lid. You have proved that.

Unfortunately, I have an issue believing any of your stories. Seems like a lot of your stories have a penchant for being possibly fiction. This has been covered a few times on this forum, by a few others.

So sometimes it pays to have a cheap, imported case. This definitely adds a new twist to the arguments.

The memory foam sure would help, but the lid is still going to hold the cues in better than the foam alone.

Do you honestly think no one sees what you're trying to do here?

Exactly - We need to know if ftgokie had ever made the trip before between Magoos and All American Billiards, with his cues in the back seat of his truck. Did he have damage on each of the trips or just this one trip? John Barton, on your next trip to the states, I need you to rent a simliar truck to the one that ftgokie drives. I need you to put cues in your case in the back seat along with cues in a Justis case in the back seat. Then drive the 45 minutes from Magoos to All American Billiards. Along the way, pretend that someone pulls out abruptly in front of you, causing you to slam on your brakes. Please stream this entire reanactment so we can all watch on Ustream. We need to see the before and after of each cue in each case.

Great Question off to Play Pool with my BEST Friend and will have my Ron Thomas 1 x 2....Protecting my CUES!!!!!!

If you have a 1 X 2, how do you put your CUES in there? It should only hold 1 butt, 2 shafts. If you are using the case beyond what the original intention was, then the case maker cannot be held liable.
