When I left Master Billiards they were tied 12-12 in a race to 28 for $6,000 playing 10-ball. Does anyone know the outcome?

shit is crazy the dude beats darren str8 up 9 ball for 5K then he doesnt want to play the same game, switches to 10 ball, then wants the wild nine, see everybody on the rail is betting on darren, then wants the 8. wtf. then agrees then only pulls on 3k when it was supposed to be 10.
any other action to mention ? who went in the first blind bid? what about the second?

On the Loser's side, Darren Appleton, Spain, Eddie Vazquez (Spanish Pete), Tony Robles, and a few others remain.
Darren Appleton went in the first blind bid, Chavez in the 2nd. Shin Park also went high, but got knocked out by Spanish Pete before the day ended. Chavez was playing very well -- he beat Tony Robles 9-1 earlier in the day.
Darren was spotting Chavez the wild 9-ball, but in all the games I watched, it never really came up much. I was picking Chavez to win. He just has too much experience and creativity.

Chavez beat Appleton already 21-19 thursday night. Appleton missed 3 Balls in 40 games and lost. Then they met in the tournament yesterday. Chavez tortured him 9-3 - Darren was never in it and looked to be on half tilt. Why he wants more of this guy is beyond me and now he is spotting him!! Go figure.
Sorry i left early so i dont have last night's (this morning really) results. They started at 11:40 last night in a race to 28!! and they both have to play by noon today. Tournament Schmournament!

I was chuckling about Frankie stating he would desire to have a backer if he was to get the last two, with the emphasis on having a backer.
I have never witnessed Frankie without a backer in games of stake.

The attraction of this story is not the US, or Mexico, vs. Great Britain, it's a slaying the dragon story. Darren Appleton is a world class player, Chavez is not, or at least never has been. For Chavez to step up and beat Darren Appleton is a great achievement. If you are the kind of person that roots for the underdog, then you did have a dog in the hunt.

Some of these Mexican players shoot inhuman when they are in dead punch. I would have to say the best pool I've ever seen is tied by two players when they are in dead stroke. Rafael Martinez and Efren Reyes.

Ignacio Chavez didn't just win the Viking Cue 9-Ball Open tournament o*n November 13-14, he took the 48-player field by storm and blazed through the competition to win at Gametime-Riptide in Greenville, SC.
The host venue added $2,000, and tournament director Mike Janis was extremely happy with the large field that included players from 12 different states. There were also five former Viking Tour winners, five ladies, and four juniors included in the brackets. Chavez, though, shrugged off the competition and took it o*ne match at a time.
Chavez earned a spot in the hot seat mach with wins over Marcus Henley, Brian White, Jeff Bumgarner, Mike Stewart, and Tony Watson. Columbia, GA, native Joe Rossman also emerged to the hot seat match with wins over Brian Butler; Mike Gulyassi; and InsidePOOL Magazine's November Player of the Month, B.J. Ussery. However, Chavez made sure that Rossman's impressive win over Ussery was his last, as he dominated the match 7-2.
Watson, who was waiting for Rossman in the semifinals, had ousted Butler and Ussery to earn his shot at the finals. Watson, though, wasn't satisfied with just knocking out Ussery, as he took care of Rossman 7-3.
The finals pitted Rossman and Chavez, but the hot hand was still Chavez. Watson took the first game for an early lead, but he didn't have many opportunities to go o*n the offensive after that, as Chavez took seven straight racks to earn the 7-1 victory.
