Yep crutch, bridge, rake, whatever the heck you wanna call it. I will do a search for the thread and let you know. I also strike the ball off the bridge with my right hand.....just like you and Mr. Sigel :D

EVERYONE hits the long ones wrong sometimes. In order to get better, you have to try and minimize the variables. For most people, this means getting a cue, standing the same way and holding a cue the same way. FOR YOU, this also means playing lefty!

In any hand-eye coordinated action, your mind is going to have an instinctual reaction as to what is correct. Some of the steps in the primal stages of learning this action might not always be correct but some of them are absolute and are NEVER to change. One of those would be handedness. This goes for shooting, throwing, batting writing, etc. Handedness suggests that the mind has already made some connections with this coordination and will make them quicker than the other side. Of course, if you were to contradict these instincts, you can still learn the action but I doubt it will be to the same extent nor as quickly.

In otherwords, if you were to switch to your right side, not only will you be taking an inevitable step backwards but you will learn slower and your coordination will never be as sharp as your leftside's potential. What you're experiencing now is simply the learning process. There is something we call a "comfort zone". That is to say, there are shots that one feels comfortable making. As the angle increases or the distance increases, we move further and further away from that zone. Your problem with long shots is only another illustration of someone who has merely gone outside their comfort zone. Nothing more.

what best for you ...

Do it the best way for you, the most comfortable way, and the way
you think will have the best chances of becoming the best you can be
in the sport.

I was left handed till I was 3, and my father switched me over to right handed, primarily because Baseball was our family sport, and he didn't want me
to grow up playing baseball left handed (left handed mitts were not too
common back then).

Today, I do some things left handed without even thinking about it, like when I play cards, I play left handed. I keep my money in my left front pocket, not my right pocket. And I can still play 6 speed Pool left handed, but I had to teach myself to do that.

The guys that get me are the right handed people that part their hair on
the right side .... lol

LOL, you do realize that I'm going to have to look for that for the next week now!

OK, it doesnt matter what hand you shoot with, as long as your comfortable doing it, and can do it well.

I shoot with my left hand, yet am right handed. I shoot a rifle left handed, but a pistol right handed. But i am left eye dominant. But when i played baseball i batted lefthanded, and threw righthanded.

What's weird about that? I am right-handed and part my hair, when I have it, on the right side. Is this not normal?

I guess switch hitters are more common than I thought....

I never even noticed I shoot left handed until someone mentioned it to me....When I picked up the cue...thats what hand it went into...

Shoot rifle, pool, eat and type left handed...Everything els I do right handed...(including the bridge)...I am left eye dominant though...apparently left eye dominance is not all that common......even for leftys...

70% are right-eye dominant
15% are left-eye dominant
15% are cross-eye dominant

I'm also left-eye dominant but I'm righty.

Damn, how do you remember which hand to use in different situations ? Sheesh... :)

I write right-handed, shoot right-handed, bat & throw right-handed and for the crutch I use paper, not hand.

Robin Dodson is a righty that shoots lefty. She told me that the way she learned she was told your dominant hand should be the bridge hand.

If you're comfortable about it, why switch.

I write righty, throw righty, shoot righty, eat righty, and flip the bird lefty. I'm serious. I think that's the only thing I consistently do with my left hand.

I'm right handed but I always without fail indicate with my left hand. Otherwise I just switch on the windscreen wipers.

I'm a righty that shoots lefty. The guy who taught me to shoot was a lefty so I naturally followed. With the bridge (which I VERY seldom use) I shoot righty. It works for me though.
