His son developed an interest in pool at Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia where he underwent treatment. His only wish for a pool table was granted a day before he left for surgery.
A special surprise for a 9-year-old Robert Lilley, who suffers from transverse myelitis, was granted his wish for a pool table by the Kids Wish Network.
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke defines transverse myelitis as "a neurological disorder caused by inflammation across both sides of one segment of the spinal cord. The inflammation causes extensive damage to nerve fibers of the spinal cord that it may result in viral infections or abnormal immune reactions."
The specially designed pool table was manufactured and assembled by Nashville's Olhausen Billiard Manufacturing, Inc.
Kids Wish Network identify themselves as a national charitable organization.
