Soon as I lure enough tunas into my man cave, the sooner I'll have the coin for a Diamond. But explain to me, pls, what's so much better about a Diamond. I know the pros swear by them, and I've played them myself at the DCC.

Still, I think my layout stands up pretty well to a Diamond, considering the difference in cost. Thanks.
 
You may consider buying some of those pool table cleaners to keep that Simonis looking and playing like new (do a search on this forum to get recommendations on which brand). Also consider buying a ball cleaner (or building one yourself - search the forum. I did and it works great for less than $30.). You get more action with clean balls - especially the cue ball. Good lighting is essential. With Simonis and artemis rubber, your table couldn't play better. You're the guy playing on it. You're being happy with it is all that counts. You could spend a lot more money on a new table but you may not be much happier. Good luck with your table. Enjoy...
 
Funny this came up, as I'm going to be reinforcing my table's frame when I get it recovered soon. I have a Brunswick 8' Artisan and it has a rectangular wooden frame with two crossmembers, which unfortunately aren't stiff enough to prevent the slate from shifting/sagging where they meet. So I designed some steel plates that will bolt to the longmembers and legs, and some crossmember braces that will connect to both the longmembers and crossmembers. I work for a steel fabrication company so I had them laser cut and powder coated :wink:
It might be a little extreme but you might be able to do something similar if you ever have problems.
I'll take pictures when I get them installed, it'll be beefy fo' sho' !!!

I got a promotional e-mail from Aramith about their new ballset -- supposedly cuts down table wear and rolls truer, but they're pricey. And I've lately developed a taste for fancy cues. All of this while living on Social Security.

You see where this is going....

Good point. At the moment I'm cleaning with a traditional brush during the week, and on Fridays I add a cleaning with microfiber towel, first dry and then damp.

Even so, there's a ton of chalk in the cloth and I'd love to get it out. I've gotten mixed reviews on the Simonis cleaner.
