I'm curious as to what other formats are being used across the country for In-House 9-ball Leagues.

Here's ours:
  • 3-person teams
  • Texas Express
  • race to 3 (27 games per match... takes about 2.5 hours)
  • lag for break
  • winner breaks
  • $20 League dues per session
  • $10 nightly stick fee
  • each win is worth $1 (payable at end of session)
  • individual payouts only (no team payouts)
  • top 10 gets some additional money
  • 14-week sessions (2 per year)
  • session-ending double elimination weekend tournament - everybody gets paid

Currently we have 42 players (14 teams). Each team plays each other once... that takes 13 weeks... and then the last week, the players on each team play their teammates... so, in essence, the whole season turns into a round-robin. And since you're playing less games the final night of the session (only 6 instead of 9), each player gets $1.50 per win that night.

Seems to work out pretty well. The level of competition is pretty good and the atmosphere is cordial but competitive.

How does our league compare to yours?
