Incredible James White Snakewood Hoppe Cue - Unchalked - Ivory Joint & Lizard Wrap

I'm looking to sell one brand new/unchalked James White Snakewood hoppe style cue. The cue has a piloted Ivory joint with a 5/16-14 screw and a beautiful Lizard wrap with black specs. The cue is signed by James and dated "12-06." The specs on the cue are perfect: the length is 58.0 inches; the cues weighs 19.5 oz. with one shaft and 19.4 oz. with the other shaft; the butt alone weighs 15.4 oz; and the shaft diameters are 13.01 mm and 12.95 mm. Both shafts roll straight together and apart and have Ivory ferrules. This cue is great!!! Jim White told me that this cue would be $2,300.00 from him new. My price is just $1,925.00 delivered to any point in the Continental U.S. by FedEx Ground. If you can find a brand new substantially similar White cue for less, I'll buy it for you.

Bump for an incredible unchalked White hoppe cue. This cue is $2,300 new from White. I know that there is a smart AZB'er out there that wants to steal this cue at $1,925.00 delivered. Who is that person?

Nice looking cue. If this is a brand new cue, then as a dealer why are you offering it at $400 below the makers list price. Does this practice not devalue custom cues. Just trying to understand. There seem to be a lot of people selling here on this board that cannot move their cues and appear to be frustrated. Good luck with your sale. I am sure it will sell very fast.

For example If when you buy a item that has a 20% markup, you can still sell 10% below recommended retail & make 10% on that item, thats how it works and your not devaluating a item at all, your just getting a item @ 20% below retail, making a 10% profit and still be able to offer to the public @ 10% below retail.

Dealers send thousands of dollars up front ordering product, for that the manufacturer usualy has a price break if you order enough product to reach that threshold.

The above is just a example and does not reflect actual prectages that cue dealers work with

I purchased the cue brand new from Joe Salazar in Valley Forge, PA in March 2007 for $2,200.00. I dealt the cue and took it back in trade. The second time I purchased it, I lowered my basis in the cue. I'm offering it for sale at an incredible price, and can do so because my basis in the cue is lower than the selling price. Somebody should grab this cue while it is still available for sale.

You hit the nail on the head! If that same dealer purchases, for instance 20 cues, sells 18 at a 10% profit, assuming all are the same price, he has virtually nothing into the last two, so he can really discount those at a loss per cue, but still pocket some money. This may not please the cuemaker, but it does happen on occasion. Some designs and wood combinations are just harder to get rid of than others. Also, the cuemaker has the option, if they choose, to stop dealing with a dealer who does not meet their expectations. I know of a couple of cuemakers who have verbal "contracts" with their dealers not to list a cue below a certain percentage of the "retail" price.

I see nothing wrong with Mike's process above.

The White has been bought and paid for. Thanks Phil a/k/a Panhdlce. You got a Quality Cue at a great price!

That is a sick piece of snakewood. I would have lapped it all up if I had the immediate funds.
