Inflation???

In this last year I have watched Predator shafts go from $300 to $339 and now they are at $359. 20% in a years time. That's a lot. But some cue prices have stayed the same for the most part, a few have increased price but not many that I have seen. No idea why I started this thread. Just saw the prices and wanted to say something and have someone hold me and tell me everything will be alright.

Players sneaky pete cue prices from Seyberts have doubled in the last couple years. Still a really solid cue for the price, but it’s hard to justify spending twice $ what I used to spend to stock them, and have to charge nearly twice $ as much when I sell them

I have switched to J&J cues for my lower end starter cues. They offer dealers much better pricing and they are also a very good quality cue for the price.

Players sneaky was around $98. I bought one few months ago for $120 brand new. I was surprised. Very well made, balanced and plays very well. I have never played with a JJ cue. Good to know that they are a quality cue. thank you

I like to look at the positive side of this… from an outside perspective, Predator is doing quite a bit to help advance the game of pool. As are other big names in pool, but Predator is probably the biggest sponsor. If we want pool, and professional pool to advance we need to support those big names that throw big money to keep things going. Just my 2 cents…

Carbon Fiber (the material, not the finished end product) has gone through some pretty wild price fluctuations as well as supply chain and short term global shortage issues over the last 5 years. But the odd thing is that the biggest price spike happened before COVID and most of the shortages are related to specific types and not an overall industry shortage. In other words...it doesn't explain the recent price increases. Rising shipping, labor and resin costs do partially explain it.

The answer is not "if people stopped buying it". I don't type fast enough or care enough to explain it, but lower demand can at some point cause industries to reduce production to the point that shortages can occur...and actually drive prices higher. Oil anyone?

Also, talk of inflation, and general knowledge of such inflation, can give cover to manufacturers to raise prices simply because they can justify it because of "inflation." A friend from Argentina said this was a common practice there.

I like to ask, "What bunch of tards would go into business to make as little money as possible?" That's in regard to price fixing but same thing.

I deal with inputting a lot of data from vendors for price changes at work. And a lot of these people are raising prices because they can and using the commodities prices are going up excuse. You’re not ever going to see prices going down it’s going to be flat or up. They are just going to hide profit in the price increase excuse.

Pretty much everything is up, the Lucasi sneaky cues have gone from just over 300 to just over 400 in a few months. Players PureX models have gone up 50% in a few years that I looked at them. 8 years ago they were like $160 now about 220-240.

do you also miss the days when you made $5 an hour at work.

do you make more now than when you bought your last cue.

$1.25 … netted $42.50. It went a long way. I was just getting started. I was learning a trade. The next phase of my life was beginning. I had more years left to live than I have lived. It’s in reverse now. I have lived longer than I have left . Yes I miss those days. The beautiful memories linger.
