Hello all :)

just as an information to me: in the 80-90 s Schon Cues were on a very nice level- Are Schon Cues still on that *High Level* ? or did they also changed into a bit less quality (cuz also exported factory to asia etc. for example).
thx for your answers in advance,

Ingo

i've had a chance to play with runde era schons and newer schons. imo the older ones play better than the newer ones but the newer ones still play good. i've only played with about 10 shons so far

There are only 3 things that I know of that Schon has changed on their cues from the circa mentioned until now.

Schon used to have a wrap-area handle made of flat-laminates.
I always felt that it was a very nice feature of their cues.
Now it's a 1pc Maple handle like most everyone else.

Schon has also changed the ferrule mtrl. from that time until now.
It used to be a hi-grade of Micarta. Now it's a form of LBM like I have not seen before or elsewhere.

The taper of the shafts has also changed to a more contemporary pro-taper.

None of the things that I've mentioned has taken away from the quality of a Schon. IMO, it's still one of the highest quality cues made in this country.

I seriously doubt that Schon will ever export the manufacture of their cues, particularly to Asia.

I must agree with KJ. I have played both and they are both excellent.
