Info Needed on a Cue

For sure a huebler, and it looks like it might have been refinished or at least cleaned up recently.

In my opinion, $500 could be spent a lot better than that....

It's actually my ad - and if you read the ad it's not for sale, I'm just trying to get info on it.

I got the cue in a package with a Meucci Olympian which dated back to 1980 and the guy was using this as his break cue - and he said it was a Huebler. I figure it's a very early Huebler. The strange prongs are what gets me - I'm sure somebody will recognize it and I'm waiting for a response from Huebler too.

I don't think it's been refinished because there is no clear coat on any of the seperate nylon parts.

I also think its a Huebler and in all the time I have been doing cues, its the first Hoppe style cue I have seen. I don't know the age, but I like the cue and if I needed a Huebler for my collection, we would be talking.. :)

Joe,

Thanks for the encouragement! I guess this was not exactly a common Huebler cue. I sent some pics to Huebler so I will wait for an answer.

Jon,

I'll take a close up and put it on the E-Bay site tonight. Basically, instead of the prongs coming to a point, they continue in a straight line about 1/8th inch thick directly into those black dots. So, the prongs aren't "V" shaped, they are "Y" shaped. The veneers just disappear into the straight portion.

OOOOHHHHH, now i see. I just took another look at it (but the close up would help :) ) and i see what's going on. I drew up something like that on cad about a year ago. And with Ebony, it's easy. Just inlay a straight piece to get that look... As i said, i have a design or two similar, i'll get around to making some of them in a year or two :) .

Thanks,

Jon

Jon,

I just got a call from a guy in Germany, Terry B is his name - nice guy. He's a big Huebler collector. He gave me the model number - it's an early Huebler 1974 or 1975 - they didn't roll their logo, they used stickers. he said it's either a QB-5 or HI 5 and he's going to scan their early catalog and e-mail it to me.

Wild world these days!

Jon,

I added a close up of one of the prongs.
