Just got this cue and would appreciate any info on it folks. Jim Whitey Spatch made them I'm told. Thank you all for any help.

I bet it'll scatter the balls all over creation.
Move to the southeast, put a hard tip on it and use it as a breaker!

Nice looking axe. Small SS joint. Shortest I've seen in a while. I bet it does hit good taking deflection into account. Nice maple in the butt as well.

Made right here up the road from me... Whitey was a good fella, everyone here loved him... Mike Staubes, his "apprentice" if you will, still tinkers with cues but I don't think they are still being made. I can try to confirm that through @bignick31985 , he's a little more up to speed on the local scene... I'm just an old has been that never was lol

I have my friends Hurricane at the house, maybe I can share a pic this afternoon if I remember. All in all they are good cue, none of the locals want to let one go either.

Great thread:love:

I have one that I don't use made of Tulipwood and an unknown to me wood. It has a 3/8-11 SW style joint and rings at each position. Plays good.

I was informed that the logo may be slightly different based on who (Staubes or Whitey) built or finished it under the Hurricane Cues label. Whoever did build it was out of Charleston I'm sure.

Ben Cooper was another cue builder local to us but I believe he passed away quite a while ago, I never had the pleasure of meering him. And I've only seen 1 cue that Ben built at Rustys Place. Of course that place closed up when Mr Duncan passed unfortunately. Couldn't get a better game or conversation in Charleston than at Rustys.

That's right, Ben did help for a while, I remembered that once you said his name, never met him either.

Sure do miss Rusty
