Info on Omega cue

Somebody I know wants to sell me his Omega. It's BEM with 5 dark points and dark butt. There are some nicks around the butt bottom.
Other then that it looks in good shape.
It is about 10 years old or more was my understanding, its supposed to be signed underneath the linen wrap by someone.
What does it sound like it's worth?
How can you tell if it is an Omega? What size is the pin? What is an Omega comparable to ?
Is there a way to tell how old it is?
Any other info would be helpful.

Hard to value a cue on that brief story. Run of the mill Omega's have sold anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 over the last 5 years. A more accurate description will get you a more accurate valuation though.

Omega's most notable feature to help ID it would be the flared buttcap. After that would be the Omega symbol either on the buttcap or the top of the pin. Omega's usually came with a stainless big pin of 3/8-14tpi.

Omega's would be comparable to a range of cues from Kersenbrock's to Libra's to Bender's. IMHO, they play very well and I'd think most folks would agree.

Take a look at http://www.erikleecues.com for some examples and pricing info on Omega cues. The flaired butt cap is a good sign along with the 3/8-14 pin.

I believe their shop was either in Wauconda or Lake Zurich area. The original cuemaker for Omega was Mike Bender. When Mike left for Alaska his brother Matt took over.

Most 5 points Omegas were made by Benders. David Paul Kersenbrock indeed made some fancy Omega/DPK cues while he was at Omega.
 
I took about 20 pictures. The chips at the butt cap are hard to see in the pictures, but there are quite a few small dings there. I don't see or feel any dings anywhere else. Nothing is inscribed on the pin.
The butt weighs 15.4. Each shaft has been played. One had the ferrule replaced, by who I don't know. The shafts weigh 3.8 13 mm & 3.9 13mm.
The current owner has had it for at least 10 years.
Supposely underneath the wrap the original owners name is inscribed. It can be found out by x-ray according to the current owner. The name is Steve Inman or something like that.
