initial cues

I want to initial my cues and have tried just about every kind of thin line pen I can find. I dont like the thickness and some of it smears. I want something clean and thin that dries fairly quick. What would you guys suggest. Thanks for the advise and happiness.

I use a freshly sharpened #2 pencil. It doesn't stand out and smack you in the face if you put your signature on a dark piece of wood or on the black phenolic but can easily be seen if you look for it for identification. The signature doesn't really stand out as they do in these images caused by being a close up and lighting.

If you'll do a search on this forum for "signature" you'll find lots of ideas for signing cues - it has been asked a few times before.

I also use a sharp pencil on the cues I build. I've tried ink, but could not get the same results.

Not me. I've never tried it but it sounds interesting.

Dick's pencil technique is excellent. Neat and legible but unobtrusive. I like a slightly softer pencil though.

A pencil is a great idea. It can be erased if you would like to change a loop etc.

Once you get it down, you could trace over with a permanent ink.

Ø.3mm India ink ceramic drafting pen. Same pen 8 years running. Who uses pen plotters anymore? You can buy these things for nothing.

I also use the 0.3 indian ink pen. It dont smear or bleed.

I've used pencil on ebony with good results, but it wasn't as nice on maple. I'd like to find an F grade pencil, which is something like 3 steps softer than a 2H (#2) pencil.
