Inserting images from your computer into PMs?

When I post as I am doing here and want to insert an image you just click on the "insert image" button and have no problem inserting an image as I am going to do here, but in PM you hit the same button and the only option is to insert a URL. Am I doing something wrong? Here is what it looks like in PM using the same "insert image" button.

When I click on the "Insert image" icon, there are two sub icons: an "Upload" icon and a "Link" icon:

Apparently, you only see the "Link" icon.

Yes that is consistently the only thing I see. But only in PMs, not on the main forum. Posting there I see exactly what you show.

I notice that you are not any kind of member, such as silver or gold. Where 7stud says "Silver member", your avatar label (on desktop) says nothing. Might be unrelated, but maybe not.
 
You don't have an "attach files" icon?

And I suspect that is because you are a "Silver Member". The members having problems seem to be neither Silver nor Gold. And certainly not Osmium. Either they need more time on the site or Mike H. has to "fix" their accounts.

So "zit" members can't share pictures in PM? :D

This has come up a few times. Was even trying to share some photos with a mod and couldn't.

Must be a behind the scenes setting. Maybe a global setting that could fix it for everyone experiencing this?

Marketing restraint IMO.
 
I use a little tool called ShareX. I can either right-click an image and upload it to imgur (file hosting site) and it uploads + copies the image link to the clipboard. So All I have to do is click the image BB code in a pm or post and paste it in. It will also allow you to select any portion of your monitors (screencapture) and instantly upload that. 2 or 3 clicks and you're done. If you want to get real fancy, it even has an editor built in. Very powerful little program.
