Nice little utility. May have to go that route but it would be nice to understand what's going on with this site too.I use a little tool called ShareX. I can either right-click an image and upload it to imgur (file hosting site) and it uploads + copies the image link to the clipboard. So All I have to do is click the image BB code in a pm or post and paste it in. It will also allow you to select any portion of your monitors (screencapture) and instantly upload that. 2 or 3 clicks and you're done. If you want to get real fancy, it even has an editor built in. Very powerful little program.
Took about 10 seconds to upload the images below. Here's the process:
If image insert is working right here all you have to do is copy and paste the image. Really simple and you don't depend on the kindness of a third-party site.

My thinking as well but it's not and it appears I'm not the only one.
You are a business. I think it's just marketing restrictions. You need to clear that up with IT.

Are you able to post photos in PMs using the site software as a silver member?

There has been speculation as to that being the reason I can't post photos. However it appears that many people who do not have a gold membership can post photos in PM. 7stud in post #2 here can do so and is not a paid member. So I have yet to hear anything definitive from anyone in the actual know that this is the issue. It does not however appear to be a matter of money.

There is a moderator involved with this thread who doesn't seem to know for sure exactly what the problem is. Why some unpaid members can insert photos and others cant. Hopefully Bob will find out for me.
XenForo is a popular platform and probably has a full complement of administrative filters. First thing I'd check for is spam filters. Could be mistakenly set.
If I'm that Bob, I'll have to admit that I'm entirely clueless. Maybe @azhousepro -- Mike Howerton -- can shed some light.
(I'm not really a moderator except for a very small range of tasks. I'm not able to deal with subscription issues except to refer them to Mike.)

I used to own a forum using XenForum, yes, it has an amazing complement of settings. The best I've seen, and I've used most of the popular ones over the years.
I think the answer lies in him not even showing as a Silver member, even after his Gold expired? But that's going to be part of the overall setup and Mike will absolutely know the answer.
I suspect it has to do with who stores the image. When you're a paid member you get the option to embed an emage with your message as you can when posting and AZ stores the image, when you're not a member you need to supply a url and some other service stores the image.
Could be wrong but that's my guess.
If you think about it, images in public posts are good for AZ and may keep people engaged/reading, images in private messages have a cost to store with no advantage to AZ.

But you notice you're not a silver member? I'm curious why. I had a one year gold membership, when it expired I'm assuming I was a Silver, as I am now. I didn't pay attention so I can't say for sure.
I wonder membership length, post count, etc. makes a difference. Of the non-gold members in this thread that can't post images in PM's, all the ones I looked at are "recent" members i.e. under 4 or 5 years, the rest of us have been here longer and can post images. I didn't check post count so that may have something to do with it also.
I guess if I need to post an image in a message, I'll be a gold member again.
