I`ve had a 9ft diamond pro, cherry finnish(early 1st edition 3 piece slate) table setting my garage for almost a year.I never got around to setting it up.I finally recarpeted my garage and have a guy coming friday(diamond certified) to put the final touches and new cloth on it.When I bought it it also came with a 4x8 matching cherry light.I know I could ask him but he is very busy the next 2 days and didn`t want to bother him.
I need to know how high the light should hang above the table or how high from the floor to the bottom(underside) of the light.I`m going to try and hang it tommorrow.I looked on diamonds website but I didn`t see anything about height suggestions.

This is how I've always adjusted the pool table lighting, Raise the light until the shadow on the table goes under the rail, at that point you got it high enough!

The WPA and BCA have specifications. The WPA says MINIMUM 40" above table if you can move the light. If the light cannot be moved they specify 65" above table MINIMUM. They also give specs for how much light must fall on the table. I'd use one of these minimums and adjust using catpool9s method for full light coverage.

I have mine set at 72" from the floor to the bottom of the box. No issues with shadows.

I'm kinda with David on this one, although you have a great light that will work well from almost any height. I would suggest that anywhere from 42" to 54" will be fine, 48" probably being the perfect medium. I have the same set up as you but I have the slightly smaller Diamond light (27" x 90"). It is set at 45" above the table and works great. Even with the larger light, I'm guessing that 48" is as high as you will want to go above the playing surface. Don't worry, no one will bump their head, unless they are nearly 7' tall.

got mine 46 inches above the table and its perfect. Its high enough so theres no shadows but still low enough for me to reach up and take down the cash real easily
