Installing Inlays

When gluing in very small inlays do you take the time to try and clamp them with tubing? Do you mask off 3/4 of your butt sleeve & then just let them sit open till your epoxy takes a set?
 
I use a 3/4" plastic tape. The tape will stretch & does a good job of putting pressure on the inlays. By the way on all of my inlays, I mask off every other one. That way no glue gets into the holes, next to them...JER
 
Do you mean like black electrical tape Jer? So the epoxy doesn't stick to the tape?
 
Plastic wrap like for covering food. Pull it tight and give it a few wraps. Once the glue dries it comes off pretty easy.

Put the inlays in than wrap with wax paper than tubing. the wax paper comes off easy when the glue dries .
 
I tried doing a 4 points up/4 points down cue forearm for practice using firewood. I learned a cheap lesson about getting glue from neighboring inlays into empty cavities. I'm glad it was just a mock up using fire wood. I'd a been screaming if I'd wasted good wood like that.
