Installing weight bolts

I have a cue that takes 3/8x16 weight bolts. With no bolt it's about 18oz and I'd like to get it to around 19oz. I was able to find some 3/8x16 set screws at the hardware store but biggest they had was 2" long so I got a 2", 1.5", and 1" one. The 2" and 1" together get me just over an ounce which is perfect. Is it okay to stack one bolt on top of another, snugging the first bolt down to the end of the drilled out area and then snugging the second one until it bottoms out on the first?

Do I need to put anything on the threads for lubrication or anything?

The answers, respectively, Yes, and No.

Just make sure the first bolt bottoms or at least gets pretty tight, and the second needs to bottom against the first. Whatever you do, don't leave them floating in the middle, or loose. They can strip the threads from the hammering effect when you hit the cue ball. Also, don't over tighten them and strip the threads. Either of these leads to bad things.

That's exactly how I do my weight bolts...
Lots of times I do not bury the first bolt though, I use the second or third to lock them together
 
I went ahead and buried mine because I wanted the weight forward, but I did wonder if tightening one to the other would be enough. Good to know it works.
