Instruction in Denver?

Anyone know of a good, preferably BCA certified, instructor in the Denver Area?

What I am looking for is a good day's lesson to help me solidify my fundamentals, stroke, stance, aiming etc. I believe I am at a point where I am not going to progress as quickly as I like without some instruction.

Also, I'd like to have them give me some written documentation for practice routines and what not that I can use after the lessons.

Anyone know of anyone good?

Why not contact our newest "Ask the Pros" member Melissa Little in her column? She's from your neck of the woods. She'd be a good instructor for you, and if she's not interested, she'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Saint,

I'm not aware of specific "BCA certified" intructors, but I'm sure you can go to their webset and get a list. Little does hold a "pool school", but I'm told, by other "players" that it's not all that great, however I don't really know.

It would be nice to know what level that you are at and I might be able to make some suggestions. There are several good players in Denver that might make good teachers. Henry Granis used to teach but i'm not sure if he does anymore. Bill Meachem (sp?) in Colorado Springs is a very knowledgable player and I've heard is also a good teacher.

I have no teaching credentials, except that I have coached/taught students at CU and others. I play all the games well and have studied with some world class players. If I can help, let me know.

Regards,

Doug

Hey guys, thanks for all the great feedback here and in PMs. I suppose a person would have to be BCA certified, that's just kind of a safety net for me, letting me know a person has some teaching experience.

I have checked the BCA site, but it seems to be somewhat out of date and hard to determine what instructors are active and which ones are not. I will call them in a day or two to find out, however I think a personal reference from people here is probably more valuable.

As far as my level, I've been playing bar pool since I was old enough to hold a cue, which basically means I don't know much about the physics of the game and I have a ton of bad habits. I've played and placed in a couple of tournaments, even won/lost some money. I've read several books, but really I do better with some personal instruction.

I plan on joining a league as soon as I am able and playing a few tournaments as well. However, if I don't fix my fundamentals, I think I will continue to struggle. I think I'm just good enough to know I suck and I'd like to be better.
