I live around Omaha area (Sioux city) and was looking for instructions. I'm ranked a 4 in tournaments. I play a lot but never seem to get much better. What can i do to get better and would an instructor help a lot and if so is there any in the area.
 
check to see when Scott Lee is going to be in your area. He is constantly on the move. I recommend spending one or two full days with him. Practice about a month what he teaches you. I am sure you will be amazed at how much your game has improved.
 
You don't have to work with him for two whole days. If is in your area he will do a few hours. I was just throwing something out. He gives his students their moneys worth.
Have you looked at any of the lists of instructors. Go into the ask the instructors forum. You should get some advice.
Over the last few years whenever I traveled I would look to see if there was a highly recommended instructor I could get together with for a few hours. Some have been out of my price range so I had to pass. When I do a lesson I like to do 2-4 hours. If someone asks for 150 -200 an hour it is way out of my league.

look around for someone who knows how to play but is down on their luck or not able to play because of illness etc.
If you approach them right sometimes the price of lunch can get you a lot of help.
Just rent the table for 1 person {hopefully a all day pass} and let the counter man know you are just getting help.
I have tried to help lots of people in my pool career, be sure to thank them!
Also sometimes what they show you will not mean much at the time but its amazing how a week or two later you will understand.
 
I just left the Omaha area. Had a Pool School in Lincoln, Ne. Will be back this Summer for another school.
