Part III

Thanks so much for all your support Stevie.
OK, like I stated before on my other Thread. I did this run on my first attempt, which I am proud. I did shoot two racks of balls to warm up prior to attempting the video. Over all, I believe it came out very well. I hope that everyone enjoys it. I always tell myself when I watch a video or read a book. If I learn one thing out of this, it is worth it. So, I hope that it helps other players even in a small way.

Nicely Done Mikey !!!

You're gettin good at this, would like to see how far you could go doin it...you might surprise yourself and hit a big number without thinkin about it !!!

I like how you always kept it open for change, that is real important for those who are just learning the game... a pattern is not always set in stone, its important to be able to change it up if you get yourself out of line !

You sound about as good i do with the congestion...Feel better, and i look forward to seeing Instructional Video IV

hi mike,

nicely done- rolled out of bed and ran 50 like it was nothing

enjoyed it very much- i could improve a lot taking pages from your book. specifically, i noticed that you play position that is largely natural, letting the cue ball work for you. very little extreme english or more than modest draw. tells me i'm working way too hard, lol

i will watch this many times and will learn something each time, i'm sure.

thanks for the help

regards, jim

Wow Mikey,

i felt really almost relaxed and curious like watching King James Rempe s "How to run 100" (still one of my all-time-favourites). This video will be helpful for sure for many players. Just the point, that you re so serious about your own game shows the guys what s important! You always have just have to *re-plan* and pay attention what changed on the table-like you did, too in this vid.
So many simple things about for example like the insurance balls, or those thoughts like "what happens if..." will open many peoples eyes (hopefully).

everyone who really pays attention and watch this video seriously will learn a ton!

thx for your engagement my friend,

take care,

Ingo

thanks a bunch Mike, I need that kind of inspirational vid again!!! Going to check it out as soon as I get hold of my home computer. Running a 50 on demand is a very good achievement even for such a skilled player like you ;)

thank you, Mike!

you sound so relaxed and natural narrating, it makes the whole thing very friendly and sounding like "you can do this, too, here's how". love that! and the specific Type of comments you make are very helpful, as well, saying exactly what you're trying to do, and then how you're doing it.

wish i coulda put more quarters in the slot and kept it going, is all!

Another masterpiece, Mike!

Thank you so much for continuing to do these. Although you make it look easy (:p), I still appreciate them and learn from them!

:)

Thank You

My many Thanks to you all.
Here is something interesting. I ran that 50 with a OB Cue break cue.....
I wanted to see how a OB cue shaft felt. So I had the Samsara tip taken off and I had an Everest tip placed on it. I like the way it feels.
Royce of OB cues plays in my League along with his employees. I might have to see if he can make me a shaft for my Palmer and give it a try.
Thanks again for the wonderful comments.

Shaft

Went up to the OB Cue shop today and ordered my OB shaft for my Palmer. Can't wait. Royce is going to match the ring on my cue for me too. Really nice of him. Many Thanks.

Royce is good peeps !!!

Tell him Steve from the 14.1 challenge at Super Billiards Expo says hello. We had some real nice conversations last year. Tell him I am still interested in that classic shaft !!!

Mike, watched your third instructional video. Thanks for making and sharing them, you know better than me it is never late to learn something new, and your videos always carry some brilliant advice.

IWhat I would like to see you doing, is explain - on every break shot - not only which english you apply, but WHY. Either it is cut angle which makes you choose this one particular shot, or part of the rack you are going to hit, or part of a given ball. Or the task of avoiding a scratch, etc.
I'm sure those thoughts come to you mind and you process that info, and all that is neded actually is you spelling your thoughts. It is not as easy to do as it might seem, it is thought as opposed to words, and we usually don't even realize what we are thinking about.

At 10:44 you end up in need to pocket your break ball (and you shoot a bank instead). Why not to play the 10 down the long rail first? Too steep angle to stay in the middle?

At 12:50 you forgot to explain the cb english (see above, I pay so much attention to that because that's the part I'm still lost when playing, I choose wrong english on way too many breaks, I suppose).

14:30 that's a mistake I make often enough, going into my break ball due to misjudge or poor positional shot.

I like your thorough explanation at 19:30, making the choice between stop and follow. 2 options is better than 1, hence your choice. Great remark showing proper approach. That's one of the gems I mentioned above about your commented videos.

That's it so far, thanks a lot for the videos once again and keep them coming! Narrating your way of thinking, sharing your perception about a given layout and managind the balls is always great to see. Thanks John Schmidt decided to do that, inspiring others to do the same. Rack'em!

Thanks

Thanks Vahmurka for the comment & questions.

10:44 The Bank shot was 100 times easier than the cut shot of the 10 ball up the corner. Plus, it was easier to control the cue ball for position with the Bank. The cut shot would of caused the cue ball to bounce across the table a few times.

12;50 Yes, I did not explain the type of English and path of the cue ball on that break shot. A Amateur/Rookie mistake on my part.....LOL I was worried about the long shot and was totally concentrating on making the shot.

14:30 I misjudged the angle of the cue ball coming off that rail. Which caused the cue ball to slightly contact the 10 ball. I wanted to pass the 10 ball cleanly. These are mistakes that commonly come up during runs that players must adjust too. These problems are what make players get better & better (problem solve).
