When do you feel it is appropriate or inappropriate to be intense. I had a couple of people tell me lately that I have a ridiculously intense look on my face when I play. Even when I practive I guess. I do this to intimidate a bit but also to gain focus. Im not talking agitated intense or angry intense but focus intense. My buds say lighten up and I say I am haveing fun... Winning that is lol. I guess Im wondering if I should tone it down because others dont think Im having the best time.

sounds like you got it to me.
"Focus and Shoot Straight" is what i have always been taught. as long as your a good sport, and not behaving like a jerk toward your fellow competitors keep it up.

the mental game/intensity is sooooo important in athletic competition.
 
I have been told I am a great sportsman and have acouple awards. I just like to compete. Always have and always will. Came 7/8 in 10 ball open last night. No biggie to me I just try again but I know I gave myself the chance to win for sure
 
I know a very good player who has his tongue hanging out when he shoots. Looks ridiculous to me, but if it works for him, its ok. If you are still enjoying yourself, don't worry about it. Do what you need to do, and keep em in their seat. Sam

It sounds like you do everything right. There are alot of people who look really angry or intense, but they are just getting the job done. I agree with Sam, as long as you are respectful to others there is no reason to change anything.

Maybe your friends are just tired of getting beat by you so they said something to get you thinking about how you look when you play.

I say don't change a thing.

This happens to me too. Especially when I'm playing someone who is a lot better than I am and I am concentrating hard. My frieds tell me to smile and not take it so seriously or to look like I'm "having fun". I always tell them that I am having fun but a lot of times they still don't understand. Oh well, you gotta do what works for you. Lord knows that I could use to be able to concentrate even better, intense look or not!
