Intentional sharking or not?

A bomb can go off, it doesn’t bother me.
We learn early in our pool career what sharking is and especially when your directly in the line of sight. As a spectator we know to keep still when in the line of a shot.
Nervous energy my ass, that’s a move.

many dont like fats. but he was a wonderful person and had a great sense of humor, all his own.

If
After watching some of those Philippine pool matches on youtube where money is flying back in forth, spectators have to get out of the way for them to shoot, marking the table before shooting, and all the movement of the spectators while they are shooting, and it not bothering the shooters, even for big money, I have to think that supposed sharking of a professional player is just gossip and nothing more.
Maybe what we need for professional pool is actually more supposed sharking. Really hard to believe stupid stuff like this actually bothers any professional pool player.
Your focus can be broken by something this insignificant, you're not going to do well at this level.

A guy on my league team once complained I sharked him because I got up and moved out of his direct line of sight...before he even got down on the shot! He was standing there sizing it up and I realized I was going to be directly behind the pocket (and the seats were close to the tables), so I moved. Then he blamed me when he dogged it.
I'd make a point of calling over whoever is running the league. The people won't stop with the nonsense until they're called out on it.

watch fats in this video. he comes in in a few seconds or so.
gives his opinion on sharking or moving.

You gotta love Willie's slip stroke and elbow drop. Newbies... Don't let anybody tell you elbow drop is bad. Any old player knows that fats couldn't play better than Willie. Fats was a showman. Not a players player like Willie, nmw the score might show end of day.

both were old here. and both could really play. fats was certainly a showman.
fats played great in the 1930's and 1940's. shortstop plus into the early 1970's so cant say he wasnt great as he beat the best then for the cash.

mosconi was at the same time and certainly was better mainly straight pool. and kept his skill longer.
fats then was the best banker around and hustler.

i am partial to fats as he was a semi friend and partner in a big score.

Certainly understandable.
I tend to think of fats as more of the low brow side of pool. Nothing personal, as I spent my younger years doing the exact same thing!! I think if Willie as more of an ambassador of the sport. Based on contributions to the game and general elevation of what pool is as a sport and orchestration of direction taken since those days.

I never notice other players when I am shooting. Lots of people just want to blame something When they miss.
Lots of people are shark proof for regular stakes, bet something that will leave a big mark, and get a bad roll or two and then see if you still play with a loosey goosey stroke , my guess is you will be able to hear a baby fart, 3 blocks away in downtown LA at 3 PM.

If you don't have another gear to hit when big coins are in the mix, I suggest you not play for serious stakes. If you don't possess the focus necessary to tune out a crying infant next to you, don't play.

mosconi wasnt an ambassador to pool he just worked for brunswick. he was mean to people and if was losing would be confrontational and derisive.
under the camera most times he put on a good face as he was paid to.

pool especially in those days was of hustling and gambling. and still is, so getting it to be a pure sport wont ever happen.
but you never know so we will see what the future brings.

when you gamble you assess all the factors around you and then make the game you feel you can or will win at.

if you dont then your money will migrate over.

That's not the man I knew. He reacted to situations as anyone might under those same circumstances and yes he was pools ambassador!!!
