Yes, from what I read, Chris Hightower, who posts here, writes and sells books and DVDs on Building Cues. I think he also makes Lathes as well.

You should look into some classes on machining. Cues are just the product. You need to know what goes into building a cue but first you need to know basic machining principles.

I have used a Cue Companion lathe from Bryan Swank, for ~10 years.
It is a basic lathe...for tips,ferrules,wraps,clean & condition shafts.
Make very basic sneaky pete cues.

Any one of the above would have a great repair lathe to start out with.

Get some old house cues to learn with.....so, when you made mistakes...
you will make lots of mistakes... just grab another cheap house cue !

learn to install a new tip...clean a shaft...do a wrap..replace a ferrule..
then later get into more involved construction process.

hands on knowedge.....is priceless!!!

IMEDIATELY....SEEK COUNSELLING!!!! You have no ideal of the mother of all can of worms...
you are about to open...once opened...it becomes quite addictive!!!

Buy the Hightower book, then videos if you can. You can sell these easily down the road if you decide it isn't for you.
