Interesting cue designs & the inspiration behind them....

This second cue was inspired by my wife, when she stood in my office and asked me. "Do these shoes go with this skirt?" It may help to visualize the point of inspiration if you know that my wife has a permanent tan (since birth) and was wearing white spike-heeled pumps.

Very creative. I'd have never guessed that without knowing the story behind it. After hearing the story it is perfectly clear.

Thanks for sharing,

That's neat. I remember your Hercek cue, but it's nice to read what the inspiration for it was. Any significance in the other inlays?

Any more??????? I'm sure many of us would appreciate seeing some cool examples, just a few weeks before the expo and all. Maybe this place can be revived and become more for sharing our passion instead of what it seems to have become lately. I feel like AZ is on life support. :(

Hercek

I always thought ScottR's Hercek had a great story. Just had to share a few more photos of it!
ScottR wrote: "I asked Joel if he could do a design using elements from an 1800's pocket watch that I got from my great grandfather.

The primary ivory inlays are based on the watch's hour and second hands.

The smaller cluster is an ivory inlay and four silver "leaves", an interpretation of pieces of the engraving on the outside of the watch.

The joint rings (and also incorporated into the sleeve and nose) focus on the heart of a watch, the gears. Joel used gold inlays for these."

I've been trying all morning to post pictures of a cue built by Robert Harris for me about 8 months ago or so. I think I got it in November along with a case built by JBCASES with this cue in mind. My phone won't let me post the pictures....durn it... but ill tell ya the story and add the pics ASAP. October 2013 I was "Born Again" and when the question of inlays came up I asked for cross inlays. JB I asked for a cross on a pocket and orange and black (HDcolors) and sent them both photos (4) of crosses and turned them loose. They came out Awesome. The cue is a head turner and the case draws eyes to it. I'll post pictures ASAP.
Happy Easter. Why happy? The graves empty.

Edit: I think I just uploaded the cue pics. (after reinstalling windows)

Here's a few I did with Keith that were inspired by filigree type gothic, weapon, and crown looks...

Bringing this back up to the top. Any collectors who commissioned special inspired works want to share their cues & stories?

This is an awesome idea, too bad more people didn't contribute! Unfortunately, all of my design ideas to date have been based off of classic cue designs.

I'm a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. Josh Treadway and I designed this cue... kinda obvious where the inspiration came from, but I think it turned out fantastic! The handle, butt cap, joint, and inside logo are Redheart.

Great cue! I really like the baseball seams for rings!

What if?

The inspiration for this cue was thinking, what if Gus had lived long enough to see the explosion of design to follow and recognize some of the "young guns" come up through the ranks pushing the limits of design. Maybe, just maybe , he may have been inspired to "tweak" his already beautiful and timeless combinations.

Gus 2000 is MY take on just one of the posibilities that could have transpired...:)
