If they're wise, they'll ditch that 'forums' link and never put one up on their own site.
You think there's a lot of bile being spewed on THIS forum? I'll wager the vast majority of you aren't gamer-types, as in computer games - especially on the MMOG (massive multiplayer online game) end. Now THOSE people put the folks here to utter SHAME when it comes to hostile posts about the companies who develop/operate these games.
Whenever one of these companies puts up their own forum, it is inundated by fanboys and haters alike, screaming at each other over the most petty things. And if a company is hosting their own forum, they HAVE to put one or more employees in charge of keeping an eye out on it - and that just brings down the cries of censorship and favoritism, etc etc yadda yadda.
And, I figure the same thing would happen on the IPT site. I mean, consider the times Mr. Wilson has pulled a thread on this site, and how many MORE new "where'd that thread go??!?!?" threads popped up each time. It's like Marshall McLuhan said eons ago - "the medium is the message". People would rather talk about people talking than about the topic of the site (i.e. pool itself) sometimes.
Now take that same situation but it's on an IPT-operated forum, and the thread was pulled by an IPT employee. How much more intense would the screaming and the conspiracy theories get?
No, they'd be wise to avoid that whole bucket of trouble altogether, and let other sites host IPT-topical forums for folks to post/vent/scream/applaud/etc on. Like... (looks around) this one...?
