I want to buy an I-2 Shaft (not that my game deserves it yet) I figure I'll have to buy online even though I prefer to buy most items in person at a retail level to inspect it and have a local outlet for follow up. I've noticed quite a spread in prices online but price isn't always the determining factor.
What are the most reputable online vendors?

Hawley Billiards has a great site for Mcdermott products (as well as most other things) I know he stocks i-2 and has good prices on most items.

www.hawleys.com

I've done business with all
of the above and with good experiences. Also www.gobilliards.com which is owned by a close friend of mine right here in my home town so you've always got a friend close by.... kinda helps to feel like you're not out there by yourself when dealing on the internet.

For this shaft I'd recommend the www.poolndarts.com link in the post above. Rat cues are sold by Muellers which has a complete repair shop and is, I think, the largest and oldest on line pool business. I've bought from Muellers at least 20 time and they have always provided the best in service with reasonable prices.

Blue Marble Billiards.

Sorry, they don't carry the McDermott shafts.

Try Seybert's, Ozone Billiards or Platinum Billiards. They all have a good reputation.

Rat your response brings up another question. I have talked to a couple billiards supply stores about the availibilty of the shaft and atleast two mentioned that they might have to send my cue to Mcdermott to match up the shaft. Is that the best route to go?

I guess that depends. You can call them and see what the turnaround time is for custom work like that. I can get it done in about a week to ten days. You would have to send the butt in either way.

52 years and counting.....

These are some good prices from some reputable sites. I bought mine directly from McD. I also had matching rings etc for my cue.

It'll be a little more money if you go this route. I did it because I wanted rings to match my cue.

Good luck,
Craig
