I am heading towards nice Open Tournament on Sweden which is put together by Pro player Marcus Chamat this Easter.

Should be a lot of fun and there is a lot of great players there coming too.
Shane Van Boening, Mika Immonen, Niels Feijen, Fransisco Bustamante(10ball challenge I believe), Marcus Chamat, Chinakov Ruslan and Zhao Fan from China to mention.
Some more great players but i don´t know all.

It is handicapped 9-ball tournament. It starts Thursday and last to Sunday. Friday is also Pro Am and Saturday 16 players 10-ball Challenge.
I believe there is gonna be some kind free(normally these guys put high quality) stream but i am not sure. I will put link here later if it is on.

I will drive today to Sweden with my friends(damn 1000km) and start put some stuff/stories to this thread probably tomorrow.
Dunno how i get to internet from there but i think probably from our hotel Wifi or something.

15 years since i was in tournament like this where is many world top players. Can´t wait it! :D

Hello from Sweden!
After almost 14 hours of driving we arrived here Gävle and signed on this fabulous hotel Scandic. It was on sale with tournament code and seem to be gorgeous.

After getting Sauna and some our stuff to hotel we headed to Interpool billiard room which is finest poolroom/bar I ever entered so far. First I noticed Shane slamming break shot at some kind mini tournament.. Doing that what he does best...

The house were packed and we did eat some nice pasta while waiting to get table.
People were so friendly it's unreal for shy Finnish guys. Overall evening was really nice even we were really tired.

We also checked brackets and I was shocked from surprise. I think I got seeded and get same handicap as Shane and other pros. Dunno why, I've been off competitions so long I was sure none even know me. But no matter. If I win my first game I probably get against Mika and that would be awesome!(not 100% sure if we did read charts right)

I'm out to sleep. Cya.

Hello.

This tournament started today and it seem to be really classy with familiar tournament director from Finland. Every match is scheduled and things runs smoothly.

All four players from our city managed pull wins. I'm really happy one newer player catch skalp from wheelchair reigning world champ at his first ever big tournament. I also had tight times with Swedish player which had handicapped lead 6-1 from start to race 11. I got really nervous because first match and gave him chances and he got 9-5 lead. Finally I got gear on then and played rest strong and beat him 11-9.

So tomorrow I meet Mika Immonen at winners side race to eleven. I get one on wire for handicap, they raised my handicap to 1 from 0. Max handicap is 8 on wire when games are races to 11. My match is 16.00 Swedish time.

Shane have his first game early tomorrow 10.00 Swedish time. I hope I'm fresh enough to come watch his game.

Shane cancelled...

Shane cancelled his participation... :(

Some kind neck nerve problems..
Aww

Too bad.
Another upset was yesterday Feijen lost his first match 11-6(5-0 start)
Women's 9-ball challenge was won by Finnish Marika Poikkijoki.

some random results...

Last round ongoing before 64 players cup..
Niels on Terminator mode now beating Ewa Mataya.. 9-4(0-3 start) race to 11.
Mika went to cup undefeated beating me on that match 11-5(0-1)total 5 run outs to Mika.
I got that cup also from losers side today..
Chinakov and Chamat also went. Cup undefeated..

Got kicked out of tournament 11-2(5-1 from start)
Feel like I got cheated ... Opponent miss one ball whole match
He also made two time 9 ball outs from strong safety. One super jump and other was masse shot to ball which was not even close to hole.

Mika also got kicked out from tournament. Hrs opponent played really strong what I did saw middle of their game.

Poolmanis;

This is very enjoyable getting your reports on thistournament.

Sorry you were eliminated. So, you were giving 4 games in a race to 11 to a guy who missed only one shot and made successful jump and masse shots? Wow.

Hope you will continue with the updates. It's nice to get the flavor of Euro events.

Also interesting that SVB had to withdraw due to neck problems.

best,
brian kc

Actually it was 4 games race to 10 because I got 1 game too from start.

Anyway I played weak and my mental game got off too easily. If I played little bit better from start maybe he would get some pressure..
It was my weak game what gave him confidence(and handicap ;))

Niels just started his game when I did leave from Interpool to hotel. Need little nap and change normal clothes.

10-ball challenge still today but I'm not on it. It's starting about hour from now and it is streamed..
Also Finnish Shootout late evening. Race to 1 straight cup winner takes all. About 20€ entry fee. When 4 players are left then is auction for buy back against those 4 players. All money goes to prize pot also. So I believe winner get probably 3000€+

Ps. I hope they stream shoot out finals too. It's most exciting pool what I know. Edit also shootout tournaments breaker always determined by toss of coin. No laggin

Just got back home from great pool tournament. 14 hours drive. Internet did not work on Sweden (only hotel and interpool wifi what we used)

Our last guy dropped out tournament Sunday afternoon and we headed back to Oulu right away because we knew we have long drive ahead.

Last thing what I saw from tournament was Niels sitting and watching opponent runnin out racks.. Guy was going 9-0 lead from 6 handicap. ;)

Btw. Marcus Chamat defended his Finnish Shootout title and won nice prize of near 2500 EUR.
I did video Shootout from quarterfinals. I was little drunk but got nice footage from unique pressure packed tournament. Single elimination race to 1, winner takes all...
