Intricate details!

Just wanted to share... At the Art Museum of Philadelphia, there's a wing called Arms and Armour, where I saw a breathtaking display of inlay intricacy (on rifle stocks from the 1600s) that I have never seen before. Inlays of ivory, precious metals, mother of pearl, etc. and carvings on ivory that rival today's laser engraving. How did they achieve such painstaking detail with tools of the time over 400 years ago? Truly an inspiration... Some of the examples remind me of Black Boar .

Sorry for the quality iphone photos...

That one piece probably took a few years to finish. I'll have to visit the museum when I don't have a ton of cues and cue stands to make!
