Introduction and a new milestone

Hello.

I just registered last week so I thought I'd introduce myself quickly. I posted one thread and got some very nice responses.

Anyway, I'm Cory. I live in Chicago and have been playing pool pretty much weekly for about 4 years. A friend and I usually play for about 4 hours a week, sets of 9 ball mostly. The Corner Pocket on Halsted is where I play mostly.

I'm really liking this forum so far and am picking up some really good information.

As I mentioned in my other thread, I just bought my first "real" cue. I got a McDermott MG3 and am really enjoying it so far. It's great to have a cue that's straight and consistent. Even the straightest cues at the bar are never quite perfect.

I've played with my new cue 3 times now and I don't know if it's a mental thing or just coincidence but last night I ran out my first ever complete game of 9-ball, running the 1-9. I've won a lot of games in one inning before but never by making all nine balls. I hope it's a sign of things to come.

So, hello all, it's nice to be here.

Greetings and salutations, young padawan.... :D

Congrats, and yes, the mental side is 90% of the game. If you believe in your equipment, you will shoot better.

Hi ...

Cory, and welcome to the board. Sounds like your new cue is giving a
little shot in the arm. Good luck with your shooting ...

A word of advice... remember everything you do (or try to anyway). With every shot you take, make a mental note of the results. You can learn just as much from the bad shots you take as you can from the good shots.

Keep it up and before you know it, running a rack will be a once or twice a set thing for ya! :D

... and the other 10% is in your head !

Welcome to AZ NeZ.

Congrats on running the rack!......can I get the 7 and the break for a little wager:D

welcome....Gerry

NeZ - I haven't been to the Corner Pocket in over a year. I was good friends with Al the bartender but I think he's left. Do you play in the APA league? Next time I get a craving for killer cheese fries, I'll stop in and look for the McD player running racks. Regards - Jason
