Iowa Shooters?

just join this forum and was wondering how many people are from iowa? i live up in the NorthWest part of iowa. It is hard to find good shooters in my parts and i am having trouble getting any better playing people who are lesser shooters than me. I guess you could call me a B player. Anyway just hoping i could find a shootin buddie.

Do you have a league close? If your in Des Moines, the Big Dog will provide an oasis. :cool: Good luck and keep shooting. :p

Hook up with some of the South Dakota boys....they'll teach you a lesson.

where at in nw iowa?

lots of good players up there. I was born in raised in Le Mars. Cherokee has a nice pool hall. And a few good players that would gamble 10-15 years ago. Souix City has a couple pool halls and some real good players. I am in DSM but still know alot of the players up there. Where are you from?
 
I'm from Storm Lake, i've shot in Dension Iowa league and got sanutioned through VENA and went to the Iowa state tourny. Ha but i was 19 then and i'm 20 now so i'm a little young to play but no one says anything, oh well. Didn't do so hott in singles but played very well in teams. I've played some in cherokee i guess i didn't run into much compition there. I think the pool hall you are thinkg of use to be called the pool and pub, they sold most of their tables. I might be shooting league there this year though. I like to make it to Fort Dodge once in a while i can find good games there. Storm Lake is dead to me most people can pick me out from a mile away but like i said there just aren't many great shooters here. Anyway just hoping to find some people close to me that play good that will put a good ass kicking on me so i can learn something haha.
 
i've heard of a real good shooter from around des moines by the name of james fenton, ever heard of him deadstroke7?

I'm from Okoboji Ia. I don't play as much as I would like but I make it to tournys once in awhile. I'm not a champion but I like to compete. My brother and I currently are building custom cues, we've really been recieved well and actually have a booth in this years Bieghly cup In Rochester MN. Oct 14-16 It's a charity tourny, but is divisioned c,b,A, AA, Masters. Would be a great tourny for anyone wanting to compete.

Well email me sometime, there are a few really great tournys happening in Fort Dodge in Nov. 4-6 Singles 9-ball, and 5 man team tournament.

I wish I could help you but it's been a few decades since I lived in Iowa. I actually was born in Storm Lake. I lived in Newell from time to time, learned pool on the snooker tables at Elmer's, now burnt down. Wish I could help but I only know where you could have found some action a long time ago. :)

Sure. He shoots the lights out. One of the top players in the Central Iowa area, if not the state. Seems like he won the Master's 9-ball at the state ISPA tourny, was 3rd at National BCA 8-ball. (My places might be a bit off, but close).

The Big Dog in DM has tourny's most of the week. If you have a chance to come down to the big city, there is plenty to do. Open 9 ball on Sunday night, B/C 8ball on Tuesday, B/C 9 ball on Thursday and Big table 9-ball on Saturday. Pick your poison. :cool:
 
The state pool tourny is suppose to be in des moines this year. if i get off my ass and join a league i'll have to look you up and shoot a little bit. I think Fenton was one of the best players i've seen in person. he broke and ran on me in teams so i never really got a chance to shoot agaist him to see how i would do =)
 
I dont think so..the state valley tourney is in waterloo just like always. The ispa which was the BCA is now in the quad cities. It is so much bigger than vnea and outgrew waterloo.

Which state tourney is to be in Des Moines?...not the VNEA or BCA, from what I've heard....they're going to again be in Waterloo's cement jungle.

I'd love to have them here in town, but the costs are too high---unless our new, ugly, $200 million+ entertainment center can be had for a discounted price, which I doubt.

Jamie Fenton is good, but can be had at 8-ball, barbox. I'm not dissing him at all. He'd give me a time at 9 foot 9-ball or 1-P, but I'm not afraid of him at 8-ball. He is human, after all. I see him becoming very, very good and a real force on the road if he doesn't screw up his life somehow.

Mike, Allan P. said you're playing BCA this year..is that right?

I didn't know that BCA (ISPA now?) was in the Quad Cities. We were thinking of just doing VNEA Midwest this year and forgetting State, but maybe not...

I must have heard wrong then, a few people last year were saying something about it was suppose to be in des moines next year.

i would love to learn one pocket also, i know the rules but no one around here even knows what the game is. If i could find someone close that know "the moves" so to say in one pocket and show me the game i think i would really like it.

lol i already know the rules and have played a little bit but haven't played anyone else that knows the game, i'm just looking for some good players to shoot with.
