IPT affecting Reno

I notice that many who would have gone to Reno are playing in the Qualifiers at Jillian's in Frisco, (Jake's) in Pasadena and ROn WIseman elsewhere. This perhaps gives many more chances for the up and coming players. The field in Reno is still strong and includes a few of the PT players - this may be a good thing.

The low entry fee is still the reason why most Players won't spend a week in Reno.It is sorta pathetic, even Billiard Digest has taken it off it's power rankings..

That's true. The Sands Regency keeps the entry fee at rock bottom ($100?) so lots of weak players will attend. The lesser players get to have a cheap experience playing top players, and the casino keeps them gambling for 5 days. A $150-175 entry would still keep them packin' in, and it would therefore add money to the kitty. ~Doc

im sure the entry fee will not change ever very much . becauce the people running the tourny are being well paid by the casino. less players means less money the playrs wont loose in bj, dice, machines and so on. more players means the casino gives them a raise lol . funny but true the only people to realy make money in pool in the past are the people who are involved in running it. maybe that will all change now :)
