I know i'm a few days behind...just got a chance to watch the match...Does anyone think Efrin dogged it a bit in the second set?? He missed a couple of shots that just didn't look like he should have...I may be wrong cause i'm a huge Efrin fan...Just wondering what everyone else who watched thought...And i've got nothing but respect for Lori John..but i wasn't to impressed with her being behind the mike...but hey it's just my opinion right....

He dogged it

When Mike "the mouth" is the "crowd favorite" according to IPT founder Kevin Trudeau,it doesn't make good sense to have your guy killed and winning no games in the match. Not good for the old tv ratings. So,what do you do?Get Efrin to dump a couple so that Mike at least makes a showing.Conspiracy?I think it could be.Mike was just to far out of practice after his lay off to make a "Captain Hook" showing.Ten years ago I would have put my money on "Captain Hook" as he was way better that "The Mouth" is now.Just thinking out loud.;)

I think efren dogged it when he was playing manalo, his position was terrible it didnt even look like he was trying.

No. I dislike when people are so quick to dismiss the competitive spirit of two great players. They are not there as stage props.

I think Mike started mouthing off more in the second set after he won a game or two which may have had an affect on Efren. I also think that he may have felt less pressure after winning the first set so easily and may have backed off on the intensity a little. Tough to say without talking to him about it. He did the same thing near the end of the Color of Money tournament after Earl got pissed and whacked the cue ball just before it scratched in the side. Poor sportsmanship can definitely get on your nerves, and both Earl and Mike were demonstrating very poor sportsmanship.

I imagine that when such a large sum of money is on the line, that it can "get to you" and cause you to dog a shot or two that you normally wouldn't even think about. I see it happen with locals, good shots normally, playing in small tournaments with payouts that are grains of sand compared to the $200k KOTH purse.

Heck, in a little local bar tournament last night, my opponent in the final match dogged an easy cut into the corner to give me the runout and the win. You never can tell.

I think he dogged it, not because of the pressure, but because of the lack thereof. When you've just beaten someone 8-0, it's really hard to keep bringing your best game, unless they start stepping it up a few notches to push you. Efren's Efren, and he's won enough tournaments to know how to play his best game regardless of what his opponent is doing, but it's hard to hold perfect concentration for 16 racks of 8-ball when you don't feel challenged. If Mike had run a 3-pack at some point, which he's certainly capable of, I bet you would have seen Efren's concentration kick right back into high gear.

What the TV show doesn't let you in on is that Efren had to pee in between sets. Maybe he wanted to hurry up and get between sets so he could urinate. Then when he came back, he wasn't in such a tizzy and therefore, he played a little more relaxed.

OK, that hypothesis is crap, but it is true that he took a bathroom break in between sets. Maybe he left some of his focus in the pee trough.
