I think all those channels have several things in common, cheap programming and heavily product driven. Even the Cartoon network and Animal planet from toys and pet products. They also have more diverse programming then just their central channel theme. They also have tons of programming they can draw from that is available and really cheap, next to nothing in many cases. Producing a constant flow of new billiard content would cost a fortune and have a small public appeal and there are not years of archives to draw from that is laying around. HGTV, Discovery, GSN and others still show programming that is 20, 30 50 years old and more and they get it cheap. If those channels had to do real programming none of them would exist it would be too expensive. A billiard channel would never make it but possibly could be launched as part one of the other channels but then again, what would they show, there are not many, many years of archives of pool. You could show all the pool ever produced in a few weeks. There is the catch 22, no programming and too expensive to produce new programming combined with a very small audience.

How about a "Recreation Network" combining pool with bowling, poker, and other diverse interests?

If they could tap into ABC's Wide World of Sports archives, there is quite a bit of old pool programming there. Minnesota Fats also had a show for a while. Along with some sort of partnership with Accu-Stats, there is quite a bit of programing available, especially if combined with other interests, as suggested above.

Pat Accu-Stats may be the biggest single resource. I know a few years ago he spent a lot of money to upgrade his equipment so what he taped could go straight to TV. I don't know what happened with that I never saw any of his stuff on general broadcast. Today it would probably be easy to take everything he has and clean it up improve the quality and show it. I guess he has never been approached with any deals. I don't believe he would be hard to deal with or want's millions for the rights to what he has. Maybe he needs a representative to pitch it to the GSN or some kind of classic sports thing to get it on. Maybe just sell the whole archive outright to someone with a nice payoff up front and retire from accu-states. If the IPT gets up and running and provides DVD's at a reasonable price in an on going bases he will be out of business anyway.

I remember Kevin Trudeau saying this at the players meeting in Orlando: ...It doesn't happen overnight. It happens in time. It's a genesis. It's a progression. There are roadblocks along the way that will come up. There are situations that will come up that we'll deal with one at a time. We go as far as we can see, and when we get there, we see further, and if there's a bridge that's out when we get there, don't worry. We'll build a bridge. We'll bring in some planes, and we'll do whatever has to be done to get over....

"It" means the sport to be a success, and the IPT will utilize every resource within its power to get "it" there.

It ain't going to happen overnight, but when it does, I think this will be a good thing for all, to include media members like Pat Fleming and Accu-Stats, players of all caliber and from all walks of life (young and old), and pool enthusiasts like myself. Anything to get pool out of the mud and into full swing is a plus.

Since the inception of the IPT, I have witnessed several events offer a higher payouts than in the past. For pool players, this is GREAT.

When "it" hits mainstream America, we all win. Sometimes you have to crawl before you walk. JMHO, FWIW!
