without hashing over all that's been said and done, is there an IPT still functioning ?

has the IPT been sold to anybody yet ?

the reason I'm asking is a local promising player is intent on going to another IPT qualifier and I think somebody's still filling these hopefuls full of 100% bullcrap.

haven't seen anything anywhere on the net that makes me feel differently. if there's any legit news, inquiring minds want to know. :(

Just tell him, if he can find one, he is free to enter it.

You might also want to advise him not to hold his breath waiting for the announcement of the next tournament and not to quit his day job if he "wins" the qualifier.

But to answer your questions seriously:
1. No, the IPT is not still functioning. Though it may depend upon your definition of "functioning".
2. No, the IPT has not been sold to anyone, because no one is stupid enough (I hope) to buy something with no tangible assets or any future.
3. Yes, somebody is still filling the hopefuls full of 100% bullcrap.

we (the pool community) need to find out who is representing the IPT as a viable organization and expose them...

I won't see this player until next Monday. I'll question him and see if somebody still sending out info to those who previously played in a qualifier. this guy played in a qualifier somewhere after KT's inability ( if it was an inability) to pay up.

anybody who is still trying to qualify for a supposedly IPT tour needs to post here and let us know what info is being sent out.

Jack....here is the position, some of which has already been posted by
Str8poolman, part of which maybe you misunderstood.

1. You can't possibly enter a new IPT qualifying tournament at the moment because there are absolutely zero IPT qualifying tournaments presently scheduled and there are in any case no scheduled IPT Tours or IPT Tournaments to qualify for......so no-one is in any danger of parting with any entry money for a qualifier at the moment.

2. If IPT ever restarts there would almost certainly be wide publicity of a revised format regarding how many tour card holders there will be and how they will be allocated. There would undoubtedly also be wide publicity as regards if and how non tour card holders can qualify for tour cards and/or individual tournaments on a one-off basis like before.

3. IPT have issued a promise quite some time ago to the effect that if the scheduled 2007 Tour did not take place they will refund every player who paid a $2,000 entry fee to play in one of the pre-qualifying tournaments which were held in late 2006 trying to win a starting place in the actual 2007 Tour Card qualifying event originally scheduled for December 2006 (subsequently cancelled) at which it was planned there would be prizes of 50 x 2007 Tour Cards to be won. So far those refunds have not been made but it is of course still possible that IPT will make refunds to all entrants in due course. If your friend entered one of those tournaments he should certainly not give up hope of a refund.

4. If you friend played in one of those pre-qualifiers and actually won the prize of a place in the subsequently cancelled December 2007 Tour Card Qualifier event it's got to be possible that he might even be given the option of a place in a future Tour Card Qualifying Final instead of a refund of his entry fee, who knows. Certainly no recent communications containing any worthwhile detail have yet been passed to those awaiting refunds or those awaiting news of any rescheduling of the cancelled 2007 Card Qualifying Tournament.

5. IPT appears to be still functioning in the sense that there are still products being purchased via their website and there is certainly still someone actioning staged payments of Reno prize money due to players. Furthermore there are vibes presently circulating which suggest that there are personnel still working towards the goal of further reduced in scale IPT Tours taking place sometime in the future.

Hope this helps:)

Jack, I suspect that some of the places that IPT Qualifiers were held and that were sanctioned by the IPT may still be holding tournaments under the guise of IPT Qualifiers. This is not beyond belief in any way if you think about it, I am uncertain if they were charged by that organization to represent it, but I would not doubt it.
