IPT Players

I think 150 players is fine, of course there might be room for an under tour, but right now 150 works.

After the first year the top 100 get a tour card for 2007. The bottom 50 have to re qualify, so some new players will be in and the ones who fail to qualify will be out.

And of course there will be a few open tournaments, so anybody can enter those.

Whats so sad? 150 players that will eventually work out to be the best of the best from around the world!

Some of the players on that list are not at all top players. How did they get picked?

Doesn't matter, certain players didn't apply others may have been over looked, but at some point everyone will get a shot and the tour will be the best of the best.

To me the list is a fine starting point and has a good sampling of about half US players and half international players, something like 23 countries are represented, it's a nice mix and I look forward to seeing who stays on and who falls, and what new players are able to qualify for 2007.

If your thinking it's who they know, it's not, some of the players selected where not in the know and were selected for other reasons we are not aware of. I can think of one thing, and thats location, it's a smart idea to start the tour with players from a variety of locations to promote the tour around the country and the world.

Also don't count out those players you feel are not top players, this kind of money can do wonders to push some players to higher levels. We may see a few dark horses jump into the top, and some of the top players might fall to the pressure, you just don't know.

I remember several months ago listening to players talking about the upcoming IPT. Everybody stated that if there was this kind of money on the table, they would be practicing every single day to take a shot at receiving FINANCIAL SECURITY. :cool:

I do not know how the selection was made, but there is a broad representation of players from around the world, some unknowns, some name-brand super stars, and MANY who have devoted their entire life to this game/sport. Some of the young'ns on this board do not know of Billy Incardone or Spanish Mike Lebron, but both of these men are 100-percent pool players and have been playing pool for decades. I think it is wonderful that they were selected and RECOGNIZED.

I personally assisted Mike Lebron at the U.S. Open with sending in his IPT application. EVERYBODY was talking about the IPT at the Open wanting to gain any and all information about it.

I did hear it through the grapvine -- and this is only hearsay on my part -- that the IPT received over 3,000 applications from players around the world. It must have been quite difficult for them to come up with only 150 players. However, this is only the beginning of what I think is going to be the change agent for the game/sport.

The IPT gives all pool players HOPE, something that has been sorely lacking in the past. JMHO, FWIW!

Austin Murphy got picked because he is like 12 or 14 years old. That is the only reason.

Just remember JAM....When the either takes effect and you guys cash in on that first million.....Don't forget about all us little people.... :D :D :D

last year's WPC and this years USOC it noticeably absent from this list... ?

maybe pheobe knows if he applied.
