In the DC/Maryland/Virginia area, one of these 25 qualifiers will be held on June 2-4, 2006, at:

IPT member Keith McCready will be on site during this event as the challenge table player, and he is raring to go and put on a show. Winners of the challenge table matches receive a free entry fee to ANY upcoming IPT qualifier for ANY upcoming IPT tournament. Keith is going to be giving away photos taken on site with him to the first 10 interested parties who mention this post on AzBilliards, which then will be personally autographed and mailed after the event.

The weekend of June 2-4 will be a busy one for pool in the region, with the Dragon Productions 14.1 event in New Jersey and the Pennsylvania State 9-Ball Championship in Indiana, Pennsylvania, occurring on the same dates. No matter how many show up in Frederick, two players will advance and get the opportunity to compete for a history-making, record-breaking $2-million purse at the North American 8-Ball Championship. Last place will collect $2,000, and the almighty win is worth $350,000.

Come one, come all to the IPT qualifier in Frederick, Maryland, players and spectators alike. Hope to see you there. :)

I'll be there

I intend to be there to play in it. What is the cutoff to get the entry fee into the IPT? Can I send it to Champion's instead? I don't like to use credit cards on the net.

There is also a Tiger Planet Pool Tournament scheduled for Rockville that same weekend.

Hi, BilliardsBeast! The tournament begins June 2nd. The cutoff for the entry fee is several days before the tournament, meaning the monies must be received by the IPT before June 2nd.

If you do not desire to pay the entry fee by credit card, I would suggest sending the IPT a money order or cashier's check, making sure the IPT receives the entry fee monies before June 2nd.

I hope to see you there, BilliardsBeast! Keith sends his regards! :)

I think it is GREAT that pool is alive and well in our neck of the woods. We're kind of lucky in that respect. :p

It does seem like there's a pool happening going on each week of the year around the world these days, and that is good for pool players, spectators, pool enthusiasts, and railbirds alike! The more, the better, I say. :)

We would love to have Keith and yourself join the fun in Hagerstown on June 17th!! Very good chance he could take home that U.S. Open entry. We had a great field last year. Take care and thanks for all you do on the forums

I remember the Hagerstown tournament last year, and I regretted not being able to go. The drive to the pool room from D.C. is only a little over anhour, and I adore that part of the State. The air actually smells sweet! :p

I think the Hagerstown tournament occurred at the same time as the Virginia State 9-Ball Championship held in Richmond last year, if memory serves me right.

I love this picture I took of Keith and Ryan McCreesh frolicking in the parking lot of the Hagerstown Billiards and Cafe. They both must have still been on the winners' side at the time. :D

JAM, that picture is a riot!!!! Your correct. The tournament coincided with the VA state 9-ball last year. We still managed a good field though with Mike Davis defeating Shawn Putnam in the final. Mike has won the last two Barrett Memorials. Carl Jones won the first one. Your also correct about the air, it does smell sweet!! Must be all the orchards

I'm glad to hear Carl Jones is still giving it his all. He's definitely one of Maryland's veteran players, and though he used to fly under the radar, I think he liked it like that! :p

This is a last-call bump to interested parties to get their entry fee to the IPT. The IPT qualifier begins this Friday, June 2nd.

There are multiple pool happenings this coming weekend. On the one hand, it may affect the turnount to this IPT qualifier, but on the other hand, this IPT qualifier may provide a golden opportunity to two aspiring players to compete in the first official IPT tournament to be held in Las Vegas on July 22-30.

I hope to see you in Hagerstown in a few weeks, Barrett9ball. Thanks for all you do to keep pool alive and well in our neck of the woods! :)

Here's a few more with the Earthquake and Genie Man on the road! :D

Keith had just won a Joss Northeast 9-Ball tournament in Berlin, Connecticut, defeating Ronnie Alcano in the finals, and he was feeling mighty spiffy and confident. We were homeward bound to D.C., with Ryan in tow, and were invited to stop off at Queens, NYC, to enter a Sunday night 9-ball tournament at The Golden Cue. Ryan and Keith were on top of the world and had no fear in the Big Apple. :p

So Keith and Ryan decided to get themselves a little Big Apple action, and Keith began to bark, capturing the attention of a few of the locals. Check out Ginky wearing his cap, giving Keith his undivided attention.

The tall gentleman in red on the left, who looks like a New York Yankees pitcher, I heard it through the grapevine won a million-dollar poker tournament in recent times. I can't remember his name. :p

Keith was persistent in getting him and Genie Man a little action at The Golden Cue, and he definitely piqued the curiosity of a few local veterans. So he pointed the way to the designated table, and it was let the games begin.

Keith got a nibble from Ginky and the tall gentleman in red to play him and Genie Man a little one-hole. Keith and Ryan then planned their battle strategy to defeat the two New Yorkers for a cool dime.

After what seemed like minutes, the match-up concluded with Ginky, et al., coming out on top and a dime richer. It was at this juncture that I think Keith realized he was out-played by the two New York City players, and I think he was in shock. :D

Alls fair in love and war, and Keith and Ginky, sporting a blond hairdo in this snapshot, still remain good friends! :)

I believe the guys name is Nick Shulman (sp). He is a good friend of Steve Lipsky's and a very good pool player, as well as a poker player.
