here is my question, after this weekend, the ipt will have it's offical 150 players. however, they will hold 25 qualifiers around the globe, to get 50 extra players for the north american open, now here is my question, are they going to have two 25 qualifiers, one for the open and another one for the "world championship" or are they planning on having just one 25 qualifer and take those 50 players for BOTH the open and the world, does anyone know? thanks.

My understanding is that for the north american open the 25 qualifiers will only be held in north america (hence the NORTH AMERICAN open). However, people can come from anywhere in the world to participate in them, they will just have to travel further. Then for the world open, there will be 25 different qualifiers held around the world to choose 50 people to participate in the world open. This could possibley be 50 different people from the north american open, or they could all be the same (very unlikely).

Bernie,

I'm not sure why you need to ask at large for inside information. If anyone should know, it would be us and we won't know until Deno emails us. I know you are excited, but it doesn't serve any purpose to just keep asking pointless questions. We will know all too soon what is happening and then we will be on center stage with that deer in the headlights look. LOL!

Bernie, I have emailed Deno asking for info about the qualifiers, if he replies I will let you know.

Please - stop - you - are - killing - me - please - stop - please.

Do you people know how to use IM's?

Sometimes it is better to keep quiet and let people think you are a dunce rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Ooops. Too late for that.

Great minds think alike. When I was reading his post, the same reply you made was going through my mind. I used to help out one of the IPT players that didn't have a computer. I set them up with an email account and would contact them when they received important emails.... you guys will get the info prior to the rest of us. I no longer do these nice things for the person so I do not see the emails anymore.

There have been numerous times that bernie has posted questions like this that obviously have not been released by the IPT.... if it had been, you guys would know before us.... I think bernie just likes to type mindlessly, much the same way some people like to hear themselves talk.

Let's see. Take in another $50,000+ per qualifier (assuming a $1000 entry fee) or just take the 50 who qualify for the first tournament? I think I know the answer.

In case anyone cares about the money portion of it, which I'm sure I'll be the bad guy for pointing this out - as if no one is allowed to notice this - but, if they get 50 players per qualifier, at $1000 entry fee, that's $1,250,000 per 25 qualifiers. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure I'll be one of the guys ponying up some dough at that point, but it is an amount significant enough to raise an eyebrow.

Yes, and if you recall KT said that the IPT will make money and it will be shared with the players. I'll bet that $1,250,000 split among 150 players is sounding pretty good to the IPT players right about now. Oh, and then there is the referral money from players entering the qualifiers, plus sales of IPT stuff.

What surprises me is that it took you so long to realize the potential of the IPT.

That's the "magic" of the IPT if you will. So they take in several million through these qualifiers and distribute it among the players on tour in the form of prize money, profit-sharing, whatever, it guarantees a steady flow of cash from IPT hopefuls who are trying to get in. I envision scenarios where the prize from smaller touraments is guaranteed entry to IPT qualifiers perhaps with expenses and also maybe weekly tournament series where the entry for such qualifiers is paid.

Just like poker where someone can win their entry to the larger events with a relatively small buy in, as little as $10, I see the IPT being able to sustain a large base of hopefuls trying to get to the big show. The only problem I see is that poker is truly a game that ayone can play without any physical prowess whereas pool requires a fair amount of dexterity and the walls are pretty well defined as to whether you are a good enough player or not. So there are probably millions more playing poker - in real card rooms and online to feed the pros than there ever will be in pool.

Still though, I would "invest" about a thousand a year or so in smaller tournaments to try to win entry into bigger events. It's a proven formula.
