IPT Rule Changes

Personally, I like the Idea of play what you make on the break. (I am hoping I dont get struck by lightning actually agreeing with something Siegel said). If you make one of each then you are rewarded to select. This is the pro level, I think playing what you make will bring the safety play into the game more than it has been apparent so far.

As for 10 ball replacing the current discipline of 8 ball. Not a chance as SJM said 9-ball couldn't catch the attn of the recreational player (cant say bar player due to another topic... WHEW!). 10 ball, though better than 9-ball, would never fly with the target audience. Believe it or not, the type of players that follow this forum are not the target audience.
Everey one here is hardcore pool fans.

An idea I really like is to put a 3 pack limit on each inning and alternate break, and leave the ball on the break rule as it is now. What this does is allow each player a turn at the table. A player can break and run three racks with out his opponent breaking, but as soon as the third consecutive rack is run the break is returned to the other player to try and answer the three pack. If the player misses and the game goes to 2 innings, the break gets returned to the oppnent, even if the breaker wins the game.

Again this might be too confusing for the "target audience", but believe me it would make for great pool for the fanatics.

The slow nap cloth has a lot to do with so many people running out. The nap cloth is making the Diamond table play very loose, If it had simmonis or there other quicker brand of cloth the pockets would tighten up after a couple of days of play this is not the case with the nap stuff.
I also think ball in hand is makes it to easy all fouls should be from behind the string line.

There's alot of good stuff here, alternate breaks, shoot whatever drops, and ball in hand behind the headstring would all work really well imo.

In talking with Rocky, (owner and player) at Capone's in Spring Hill FL, and this is the room Rodney, Saez and Earl play it, he says "the excitement the audience gets and the awe are from players showing greatness by extended table runs" the public & game NEED these large packages (3 or more games in a row................... a great McCready expression from the 70's) to become amazed and hooked on the game. I still think when and if (hopefully) they go to shoot what you make stripe/solid the large packages will carry even more interest. Winner breaks but shoots what they made unless both ball groups are down, and if thats the case then there are probably more than 2 balls made and we all know now what the percentages of a runout are. It won't take long before all players start breaking better, remember nine ball without the box????????

jsp,

love your idea of calling everything including the break

Actually, among all the other great ideas, I think by just implementing that rule alone we'd see the format perfected, brilliant!
