Personally, I like the Idea of play what you make on the break. (I am hoping I dont get struck by lightning actually agreeing with something Siegel said). If you make one of each then you are rewarded to select. This is the pro level, I think playing what you make will bring the safety play into the game more than it has been apparent so far.
As for 10 ball replacing the current discipline of 8 ball. Not a chance as SJM said 9-ball couldn't catch the attn of the recreational player (cant say bar player due to another topic... WHEW!). 10 ball, though better than 9-ball, would never fly with the target audience. Believe it or not, the type of players that follow this forum are not the target audience.
Everey one here is hardcore pool fans.
An idea I really like is to put a 3 pack limit on each inning and alternate break, and leave the ball on the break rule as it is now. What this does is allow each player a turn at the table. A player can break and run three racks with out his opponent breaking, but as soon as the third consecutive rack is run the break is returned to the other player to try and answer the three pack. If the player misses and the game goes to 2 innings, the break gets returned to the oppnent, even if the breaker wins the game.
Again this might be too confusing for the "target audience", but believe me it would make for great pool for the fanatics.
