seems germany has the highest percentage. considering they only had 7 to begin with, 2 made it all the way to the final 6 with 1 emerging victorious.

the philippines sent 12 (13 if you count montal), with 3 making it to the final 6.

But russia ony had 1 (? -- correct me if im wrong. can't really tell with the flags) player in stalev and he made it all the way to the final 6.

so i guess stats wise russia sent the most successful contigent!

money-wise, i think germany still leads because of the large difference from 1st to 2nd place. let's see:

It's pretty clear that the players from the Phillippines as a group were the most impressive, with the players from Germany second.

What I hope is that the IPT will be successul enough long enough that the U.S. starts producing more players of that calibre and gets back to the top with countries like the Phillippines and Germany.

I think the allure of the IPT has already gotten the attention of American pool players. I see pros and semi-pros who are specifically trying to improve their game in hopes of 1.) making money on the IPT and retaining their card or 2.) Winning a qualifier to take a stab at the next IPT tournament. Clearly the IPT has been a kick in the ass for players everywhere to improve and make their mark.

I'm hoping America's pool elite (Deuel, Archer, Strickland, Morris, et al) will pick up their game as well. I'd hate to think their most successful days were back when the money was still sh*t.

The Germans and the Phillippines were definitely the cream of the crop this past week in Vegas. The Germans were also missing a top player who never got his card or qualified in Thomas Engert.

why weren't there any taiwanese players? i think they could have seriously changed the atmosphere and outcome of this tournament.

As mentioned the Germans money total is inflated due to Hohmanns large payout.Other than that, only Soquet made it into the third round and past. All the other Germans were knocked out in the 1st or second round, which isn't that impressive.Only 2out of 7 or 28.6 percent of the Germans made it to the third round.

The UK on the other hand had 7 (of 13) there players make it to the 3rd round including Ellerby,Carl Morris,O'Sullivan,Mick Hill, Appleton, Peach and Hundal. That's 53.8% making it far into the tournament.
Mick Hill and Hundal made it to the 4th round and Appleton and Peach made it to the 5th only to be knocked out by mere percentage point tiebreakers.

Appelton $30K
Peach $30 K
Hundal $17K
Mick Hill $17K
O'Sullivan $10K
C.Morris $10K
Ellerby $10K
Raybourne $5K
A Fisher $5K
McKenna $5K
Mladenovic $5K
Saleh $2K
White $2K
Saleh $2K

150K in total.

There money total may be low, however, the UK's presence at the IPT was impressive.

thanks rj. i was waiting for someone to total the other countries' winnings. i wonder how the US fared? and was stalev really the only russian?

Australia had 7 representatives, 4 into the 2nd rd, 2 into 3rd and Quinten Hann made it to the 5th. Not bad for a country of 20 Million.

Bring on the Australian IPT event in 2007!

Goran Mladenovic representing the UK nowadays ? Used to be from Serbia Montenegro (Serbia nowadays).

and was stalev really the only russian

Yes Stalev was the only russian, he's pretty much the top player in Russia with no real competition (besides K.Stepanov), so no surprise that he's seeking new challenges :)

Stalev was great! I sure hope we'll see more of him. Remember, both Hohmann and Manalo were relative unknowns when they first came into the spotlight. I think the IPT will continue to bring out the best the world has to offer. (now where the hell were the taiwanese??!)

Thanks RJ, was waiting for that, I think its obvious the Phils did the best but I think the UK prob was 2nd best given the number of entrants. Great showing

;)

and Tony Crosby and Lee Chenman. I'm fairly certain that if Snooker dies on its feet in the next few years and all the UK talent focused on American pool it would be able to challenge any nation given time. The weather is just too damn cold over here to do anything else lol! :p

101 americans in the field.

Take away 20 of them add 20 from Taiwan, also maybe another 5 or 10 players from the Philippines.
Then you would have a true international field, and the best players in the world.

It should sort itself out by next season, the December qualifiers at the Wynn are going to be scary.

Is Stalev still playing with the rubber sleeve on the butt of his cue?
Thanks,

Yep now that quite a lot of the guys from the open events will win cards we will truly have an elite field in December. Players like the European No1 and European Straight Pool record holder Engert, and Double world Champion Wu will hopefully finally get on the tour.

I suspect many of the the 50 will be Asian.
