IPT TV Rant...

So, I'm all excited last week and about to program my vcr on Saturday night to tape the IPT on OLN. I'm going around the channels to find OLN and low and behold it is NOT there (but i know i had seen it before).

Now, I have 73 frickin channels on my TV. That's not enough or something? About 12 of those channels are in languages I don't speak, yet I don't get OLN.

I really don't know who I'm complaining to right now. I guess KT for stating how things were going much better than anticipated. If things are going so well, how come the biggest fan of pool in south orange county can't watch the first IPT event on TV. I mean if I am not watching it, I sure as hell know joe schmo down the street isn't either.

Anyway, this really upset me, and I thought I'd put a post up about it to see what people had to say.

Thanks!

You probably need to upgrade

First of all I know you are ranting so you don't or did not realize you said you set you vcr for Sat. Only problem is was on Sunday. lol. Live at 4 and rerun at 7 in Ca. For OLN you need to subscribe to digital with a digital box as it it broadcast on 404 in my area.
Sorry bout that.

wow, is it that hard to understand i was setting my vcr timer on sat to record something on sunday??

anyway, thanks for trying to help. point is i dont get oln and im sure a lot of people in my area (pool players included) have the same basic cable plan as me. too bad for the ipt i guess.

You missed a good show Enzo.

I just watched the 2nd hour of the IPT. Not bad. I had a friend tape it for me since he has Direct TV and one of his complaints was that there were too many commercials.

In this hour we got to see Gerda beat up on Earl.

I have digital cable in my area but NO OLN. Digital is not the answer for everyone.. Not an option for me and I am not too happy either but nothing I can do..:(

i found OLN on ch 143 for me. i thought it was done well but is it just me or would you like to see whole matches and not just one rack from the whole match? it feels like watching a sneak preview of every match.

Orr too bad you didn't spend 3 or 5 bux to get it i guess??

you mean 5 extra to get digital cable, or 5 extra to get one more channel. here in CA cox doesn't let you just add one single channel for 5 bucks. you buy in block fashion and i hate it.

Of course every pool player wants to see whole matches, but this is geared to a TV viewership of newbies to pool. Entire matches will be available on DVD. Can you imagine just one match being shown? It would take way more than an hour, and just one round of the IPT involved dozens of matches.

I think we need to see the coverage for what it was, to get the layperson interested in our sport. The nuances will come later.

Enzo, where do you live? OLN is Ch. 34 in Seattle. Do you have Comcast? If so, you could call them and ask for OLN, maybe.

I live in CA, i mailed you once when i was visiting portland, maybe thats why you were thrown off. oln is not here on my 73 channels (:(), too bad, i checked my tv like 5 times, lol.

I thought the second show was better than the first. It had more pool and less fluff. One thing I didn't like about the second episode was Mike Sigel. I enjoyed his commentary in the first episode, but in the second he was apparently being paid by the word, because he wouldn't shut up. He talked over the play by play announcer who, halfway into the show, I didn't even know was there. He even tried to talk over KT, which isn't easy to do. Sigel has a lot of good things to say about the matches and the situation on the table, but he needs to tone it down a bit. Less is more. The only good thing about him talking more is that KT was talking less. KT needs to leave the commentary to the experts. He adds nothing to the broadcasts. If the broadcasts continue to improve, I will continue to watch.
I agree there were too many commercials, but, hey, there's too many commercials in every show (except soccer). But that's television for you.

Where?

Where in California? I live here too. If you only have 73 channels you do not have digital programming, which you need a special box for from your cable company. In my area however for instance and my pool room I can get oln on analog cable among the 70 or so channels. However at my house, which is a different cable co. I can only get OLN with digital box. In some rooms of my house I have no digital box so consequently I can only watch oln in my living room. I cannot believe in California this programming is not available to you. You may want to go to Direct T.V.,you can get this for about the same price plus you can watch a lot of programming in real time instead of west coast delays.

Whats wrong with ESPN or Fox Sports?

 The First IPT King Of The Hill Show was on Fox Best dam sports show & Kevin T said how great the ratings came in that night without advertising and all the networks want a piece of this action!!!!

HOW DID IT GET STUCK ON THE ( OLN ) ?
