We are coming up on the Weert qualifier, and I was wondering if anyone
has a player's list yet on those entered to play.

Supposedly applications are still open for this qualifier, and they aren't going to produce the list while registrations are still open, they don't want to repel people from joining it. I think they usually give the list on the day it starts.

TheOne, will you play in this? Mjantti? Anyone who posts here planning on playing?

Quit it ....

And people say Bernie is impatient.

LOL

It will be posted the day of the qualifier - just like the last four.

Jake, you even made me laugh, and that's saying a lot - from the comment you said ...

id love to play, but
A: cant afford it
B: not good enough (only B player)
C: no sponsers
D; im a nutcase.

there will on the other hand be a chance a belgium player will enter.
Our small country is once again trying to see who dont minds to pay a small amount to pay for the 2k entree fee. It will all depend how much we can find, and how much the BPBF will add.. or sponsers...

i think Pascal Budo from belgium is going to play, and payed it with his own money. Who will play for the raised money... is another question. but i do got some idea's if we do find 2K... but cant tell them.. they arent sure yet, so im not gonna post info before its 100% sure and i do something they dont like. guess ull just have to wait and see

edit; dont think mjanti will play, but he's the best man to tell u that im right or wrong.

Unfortunately, my sources have told me that Wu will most likely not be playing this last qualifier:(

Three names for sure: Gijs van Helmond , dutch top 10 player, Brian Beekers, at the moment probably the most constant dutch player, ranked no 2 and Marcel Martens, ranked no. 4 I think. Marcel and Gijs won a pre-qualifier and got their tickets for 50 euros, Brian paid for his along with some sponsors. As mentioned the other ones will probably be publicated right before the event. I somehow think it won't be so busy over there. Maybe 20 or 30 entries. Not sure though.

would luv to sjm but I've just agreed a contract to work until the end of the year so even if I was lucky enough to qualify I wouldn't be able to play in all the events. So I won't be playing in this qualifier, but possibly one of the open Quals and almost certainly the 2007 Quals in December.

PS
I was wondering what the cut off was going to be for this event, given that HOB is one of the 256 field Euro Tour events (A very large room). I note on the IPT website that they are only using 10 tables!!! I'm starting to think that its the IPT cloth that is limiting the fields of the IPT qualifiers (and therefore increasing the entrance fee).

If WU really doesn't play and therefore doesn't get a 2006 tour card then IMO this certainly proves that the selection process has been a failure. The whole selection "process" has taken the best part of 6 months yet the current 9 ball and 8 ball world champion looks like he won't be playing - sums it up really

Wu played, even won some bonus money, but he didn't earn a card.

I've heard he won 75K for the nine ball title and his gov't gave him a 400K bonus. Then he wins the eight ball title for more $$, and his gov't might of gave him another 200K bonus. He also got a bonus from his sponsor.

I think he can afford the fare to Europe. What the hell else is more important for Wu then a chance to win some tourneys with six figure payouts?

I like Thomas Engert to get a card. I wonder if Santos is going over. Can you imagine having a card, losing it for lack of communication, and then spending 6000-8000 in entrance fees alone to try and get your card back?

There are about 20-25 tables in weert so it's not that big. The number of tables is limited to 10 I think because of the limited number of entries. HOB Weert wanted to host a pre-qualifier for 16 players 125 euro's each, and they didn't get 16 players so it was cancelled.

p.s. Thomas Seiffert (GER) will also be attending. He also won a pre-qualifying tournament in Germany.

Is there any word ...

about any Russian players or players from Spain entering?

I was amazed back in '81 when my ex-wife Linda and I went to Madrid, and
took a bus tour of Madrid to find out the University of Madrid, at that time,
had a 105,000 students. The campus was a city of its own.

I know Dave, I played there last September in the Euro Tour, I think there was about 230 players that day, all finished in 3 days.

I only mention the number of tables because the reason given for the previous qualifiers to be closed where size of room and other logistics. Given the weert qualifier has held 200+ euro tour events I assume the qualifiers are either closing early due to a) a lack of interest or b) an unwillingness to recloth the whole amount of the clubs tables. Just an observation but it will be interesting to see the weert field size and IF its announced as "full"?

Look out for Imran Majid and Daryl Peach on the UK side, with probably the usual 8-ball suspects like Melling and Boyes.

come on Craig. This is really unfair to the people who did take the time to present their applications and also to the people who have played in the qualifiers so far.

Alex Pagulayan said it best when he said he wished that he had sent in an application but if he wasn't good enough to earn his tour card through the qualifiers then maybe he didn't deserve to be in the IPT.

The selection process was what it was and 150 people got a golden ticket out of several thousand applications. Ten of those forfeited their spots and so we were treated to how incredibly hard it is going to be to get a spot in the future.

Just let it go man as far as how the players were selected. If Wu wants to be on the IPT this year then he'll go to Weert and win his card just like those before him who had to win theirs.

If not then he'll probably do just fine without the IPT until he gets in.

John

my 2c, beerkes was the one i wasnt mentioning. He's going to be one of my favorits for winning a spot, and i hope mario from my country will play too.

Well things are getting warmed up.
The table fitter is working around the clock, leaving me without sleep  because he starts at 08.00 in the morning, for a Poolhall owner that's in the middle of the night....;)
My girlsstaff are looking good as alway's and are ready to serve.
Just have to iron my pants and of we go...

Don't know anything about the playerslist, so please don't ask.

Final IPT Qualifier is ready for take off.

May the best men win.

Maurice, that's a small price to pay for owning a world famous pool hall;)
I can't wait for the qualifier to start so I can see that players list.

Craig, it's quite unfortunate that Wu didn't get his tour card as he would have did wonders for promoting the IPT in Asia, the biggest pool market in the world. What I can't figure out is that if he wanted to join the IPT why wouldn't he send in his application when everyone else was? He would have been a sure lock to get his card had he simply applied, I can only assume he wasn't aware of the application process.

I heard Wu and other two taiwanese players - Huang Kun-Chang and Fu Che-Wei will paly the IPT Weert Qualifier. Huang was the 1995、1996 WPA World 9-Ball Junior's champions and Asian Games 8-ball silver medal, and Fu was the former Asian Championship winner.
