I've always wanted to play cushion billiards as a way to improve my pool game. I went to a place that have these nice Gabriel's tables the other day with a pool buddy of mine and it was great! We were just playing straight rail and having a hard time getting to 10 points but it was definitely a very fun learning experience.
I noticed at the billiards hall that they had these nice glass lockers for players to keep their carom cues in. I know that there are cues made for carom billiards and it looks like they generally have a smaller tip and a conical taper. I was just using my daily player, a McDermott 4 point with a g-core shaft that has a 13mm Moori Med tip with a pro taper.
Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't be using my pool cue and I should get a carom cue...
What are the significant differences between the Carom cue and the Pool Cue?
Am I damaging my pool cue or tip playing cushion billiards with it?
Could I just get a carom specific shaft for my McDermott?
Thanks for reading and I appreciate any information you can contribute.
