is it dangerous to put my case inside of the checked-in luggage?

I have not ready every single post in this thread but I’m probably going to reiterate things that have already been said. For the past three years I have traveled on a plane almost every week for work. I take a 1x1 hard Vincitore case with a cheap cue that I don’t mind loosing.

So far I’ve had no issues with any damage being done to the cue or case. I pack clothing below and above the case to add some extra protection. This has proven the test of time during these three years.

The only time I have ever had anything happen to a cue is when I used a soft case. The zipper from the soft case put a small ding in the shaft. Was easy to fix but that made me get a hard case to prevent any additional dings.

A few times I have taken a carbon shaft and I couldn’t tell if TSA checked to see what it was. I think the X-ray images show enough detail of what’s inside your luggage so they don’t have to open it up.

Obviously there is always some risk as the people who load the planes could care less about your luggage. Also I’m sure the temp drops way down once you’re in the air. For what it’s worth I believe it should be fine to take a cheap cue.

The cue I take is a very good old McDermott shaft with plain black butt. I spent about $200 in total and it plays lights out for a travel cue.
