Is It My Own Fault?

Pool? Never heard of it..

I asked about a moral dilemma I was facing on here. The $20 McDermott cue that I had mentioned. I e-mailed the guy because I haven't heard from him and he e-mailed me back;

"The cue is sold. Some guy in Illinois sent me an email telling me it was a McDermott and asked me to send a few pictures. Then he said it was worth at least $50, so I sold it to him."

...There is absolutely no way the person who emailed him could say it was a McD and THEN asked for some pictures of it. Especially if they then said "it's worth $40". Did I tip someone off on here when I asked if I should do it? Are there people on this sanctuary of pool that would go behind a fellow AZer's back?

Karma...that's all I'm saying.

YES, consider the community, there are people that would cut there own family for a dollar.

I hope nobody on here would do that to another AZBer. But if they did then hope the Karma will hit them hard. Sorry to here you missed out on a killer deal. But there will be more to come. Jerry

JUST to clear the air...it wasnt I, cant say i didnt look for it... but it wasnt me.

I didn't for a moment think it was you. Don't worry about that. I sometimes forget that we have trollers on here that don't bother to register or share things. My own fault for sharing my dilemma.

Some deceitful activity within the pool world? NO WAY JOSE. We are a band of brothers.

It was pure coincidence.

Better luck next time,

MilwSooter & I pm'ed a couple times on this, and you're right, he's not all bent from missing out. Milw seems like a fine gent and a good addition to AZ!

Twas'nt I either, I looked at the add but that was it.

Sorry to say but that seller is a a-hole in my book, no contact to even let you know that he thought it was worth more..

Thats the problem with c's List to many jerks just looking for a buck.

Thanks!
It's just really difficult because I haven't worked since Dec. 1st of 2007 because of a back injury so I was really excited to finally be able to have a better cue that wouldn't require me begging the wife for her hard earned cash. Early bird gets the worm I suppose....The hunt continues.

Probably not a forum member

If it was on a local Craigs list in Wisconsin were Mcdermott is made. It seems any local banger there would know what it was and cobble it up.
You should of pulled the trigger quicker. Sorry you missed it.:frown:

the guy didn't have any pictures of it. A pretty standard cue description is all he had listed. Someone miraculously saying "It's a McDermott", even in Wisconsin, is pretty unbelievable.

If you really wanted the cue, why did you waste time posting one here asking if you should get it? My wife loves craigslist, and she often e-mails things she sees on there to me. I try to tell her that by the time I see her e-mail, the item is probably already gone, and if she wants it, just reply to the post.

Craigslist is pretty much first come - first served. You don't have the luxury of thinking too long about anything you see. If it looks like a good deal, go for it. You really didn't need anyone on this forum to validate your decision.

:idea:He might have also told the buyer about the circle and the M.

atleast he thought about the moral dilemna

i agree that craigslist is first come first serve, but this story sure seems like someone grabbed it out from under him...

i dont wana share other peoples life stories on here, but its not always easy for some of us to afford decent cues... I personally hope to help him find something affordable to make up for this loss

Saw this thread yesterday. Don't need a McDermott, but like a good challenge.
Let see, you posted you found it on another site but not saying where. Your location is listed as Milwaukee... Um.... 2 min later search all "For Sale" with the exact phrase you posted. BINGO.
Sorry it got sold out from under you. That sucks. I think we have all been there.
As most have said, the Karma will bite whom ever later.

1. It was a few days old already
2. he stated in my email to him that I was the first to ask the brand.
3. I had to TELL HIM where to look for any type of insignia
4. I don't like being screwed somehow so wanted to know what others thought.
5. The person who bought it didn't see pictures OR have a description sent to him other than was in the generic post.
6. You came off as a bit of an @$$, but I'm sure you didn't mean to be.
7. Waiting to decide on whether or not I could have a clear conscience doing this was most certainly the right thing to do.
