A few years ago at the BCA Nationals in Vegas, I had Guido Orlandi clean up my cue. I talked to him afterward about what he uses and how to apply it. He uses denatured alcohol and follows that up by applying pure carnauba wax. When applying the denatured alcohol he uses kleenex tissue so no wood is removed from the shaft. The same goes for the carnauba wax, tissue is great because it won't wear out the shaft.
1) put denatured alcohol on kleenex and wipe down shaft to clean it
2) apply a little carnauba wax to kleenex and rub cue very fast so you heat it up. This will get the wax into the grain of the shaft. Let it dry for about 10 minutes and wipe off wax with, you guessed it, another kleenex.
Ok Guido, if you are reading this, I just threw a huge plug for ya buddie!
If anyboody is in Vegas or other places where Guido Orlandi is working at his booth, he does a really good job.
